This book was written for you — a person who truly wants to put more happiness in your life. I’ve written this book because, during the past few years, I’ve learned some powerful secrets,
known and used by some of the world’s most successful people. By using these ideas, I have dramatically changed my life for the better! I want to share them with you.
I was a confused and unhappy person several years ago. After a failed marriage and the death of my beloved mother, I sank into a pit of sadness and anger. I didn’t like the feeling inside, but didn’t know how to break out of it. Then my wonderful friend, Denise, quietly gave me a little book. It said that we are responsible for everything that happens to us, whether we realize it or not.
Somehow, I knew deep inside that statement was true. But I didn’t want to believe it. How could I? I felt like a victim of forces beyond my control. The idea that I could have created the turmoil made me furious!
After I picked up the book from the floor, I read on. I learned that we have tools available for creating our lives exactly the way we want them. We just have to learn how to hoe and furrow with the tools, harnessing and directing our power, instead of flinging them all over the garden. So, if I had created my misery, I could also create my joy? Absolutely, Yes!
I read many more books and met some wonderful people over the next few years, harvesting kernels of wisdom. I used the ideas, but not consistently. I saw results, but they weren’t consistent, either. It was a patchwork quilt. I decided to pull them all together for myself in a notebook, add my own thoughts, and work with them every day. My life improved so quickly, I was astounded!
That’s why I wrote this book for you. To save you time and energy. For each message in this book, you can find volumes written. In other words, this is the tip of the iceberg, but it is also a cohesive whole in capsule form.
If a particular area really captures your interest, great! Go on and read those volumes. You’ll find some of my favorites listed at the end of this book.
If I could pull myself up out of darkness with these ideas, I know you, too, can find a pathway to joy. These messages are powerful. Even the words from one message have changed the lives of many people. It will change yours. And as you radiate with more happiness, someone will ask you how you did it. Then you’ll share with them. The more candles we can light in this world, starting with ourselves, the brighter the world will be.
Happiness is not a luxury, but a daily essential.

HOW TO USE THIS BOOK
This book is intended to give you a simple road map. Step by step, you will rediscover yourself and rediscover that happiness is your birthright. But you must want to learn, want to change, really want more happiness in your life.
Each day’s exercise is set up in a similiar way. All you need to do is set aside ten minutes every day, preferably in the morning. Or find a few minutes here and there. Every moment spent with this book will add to your life.
Read the day’s message. Then read it a second time, really concentrating on the message. Following the message is an exercise. It’s very important that you do the exercises. Only with time will you realize how powerfully they affect your life.
You may feel compelled to re-read the day’s message later in the day. Do it. The more times you think about the message, the more thoroughly it will become a part of you.
Take this book wherever you go. It has been published in a compact, portable size. Read it while you’re waiting for the bus, sitting at a traffic light, anywhere you find a few moments.
We all make resolutions to improve the quality of our lives. We vow to quit smoking, we go on diets, we set up exercise programs. Why not embark on a program to become happier?
Maybe some of you have already tried various programs, and quit before completing because you didn’t have time. With this book, you don’t have to make a lot of time. Just let the ideas cross
