I, Gail A. Veilleux, am a Christian. My greatest joy in life has been my family. I am a mother of three, a daughter, a sister, and a grandmother. I worked in a variety of fields before becoming disabled, and I have lived many places before settling in Maine. The various places I lived, and the relationships I have had have broadened my perspective. My poetry springs from my experiences. Writing has been an avenue of expression available to me in any circumstances; it is a comforting friend. Published word can be unforgiving, but writing is freeing.

Pieces of Grace - Gail A DeJohn
Introduction
Webster defines a poem as:
A piece of writing that has rhythm and often rhymes, usually in language that shows more imagination and feeling than ordinary speech.
People are made up of pieces…some of those pieces are bright and appealing to us, some are dark and shadowy. Although people are composed of many pieces, they cannot be accepted only in part. When you assemble the pieces of writing written by any one author, and delve into the depth expressed within them, the assembled pieces reveal a picture of the heart that lies beneath. Each of us has pieces of ourselves that in normal society we would not venture to share, but those are the pieces which compose the masterpiece of our life.
My poetry is more than cleverly arranged words…I invite you to meet me by reading my books. Perhaps in our meeting you will find pieces of yourself reflected within the pages. When people connect it is often because they see pieces of themselves in each other. Dare to accept people as masterpieces.

Introspection
Who we are is undefined and remains so until our masterpiece is complete.
We traverse roads without knowing where they truly lead and in our travels our lives touch others. The pieces of us that share similarities of interest or experience tend to connect, and yet it is our differences that make our masterpieces unique and valuable. If we share only what we have in common, we gain no insight to life. We learn when we value our different perceptions, communicate them and dare to see another perspective. People tend to see the world not as it is but as they are conditioned to see it.
This latest series of poetry was inspired by the realization that we are all in the process of becoming a unique masterpiece. The process of becoming is itself amazing, entertaining, and revealing. I hope that the pieces of the lives that connect with my own multiply over time and that the pieces that remain diversified between us serve to enhance the unique beauty of the world which we share.

Write Pure
"No power hath pen and paper
If restraint stills the ink;
Listen to you passion and conviction,
Dare to write just as you think!"
Dedication
First and far most, always to God who blesses me with life, life eternal, all I need, and the ability to express myself on paper.
To my beloved family that soften life and fill it with joy!
To my friends who stand faithful through the ups and downs of life, bringing smiles and encouragement into the most critical of times.
A Coffee
Hello my friend,
I’m missing you…
So I thought of something we could do…
We could have a coffee today,
And pretend you weren’t so far away.
Just call me up as you pour your cup…
We’ll sit and chat, and laugh it up.
It will seem as if you were right here;
Even though you’re way over there.
Oh, how quickly time will pass;
As we make one more memory-
That’s sure to last!
A Friendly Lift
Soul was empty,
Spirit was dry,
Life was barren…
Then you came by.
Breath of hope,
Ray of light,
Filled my heart,
Gave me sight…
To see beyond tears that fell,
To believe again,
And live life well.
I dream again,
With restored faith,
And lift my pen,
With new found grace.
Thank you friend,
For being there…
For being forthright
With your care.
Forever in heart
You will reside ~
My silent friend,
In whom I confide.
