These Things of Life - Jessica Metcalf

    These Things of Life

These things of life I cannot change,

So I resign to leave them be—

    But coupled with irresolute

    Pain for all eternity.

Perhaps it’s not so long a time,

And upon my death I’ll see

These things of life I cannot change

    In time will sober me.

    The End Justifies the Means

Don’t be sure—so sure, so sure—

    Because you never really know.

The universe can throw a curve

To derail your course and flow.

We think we have the answers,

    Yet nothing’s as it seems.

    I heard you must have faith;

    The end justifies the means!

    Today’s the Day

    Today is a special day,

    Don’t you think?

Can’t it be today when you are sitting on the brink

Of something grand to make you
