The author suffered from PTSD after serving in the army, and after getting out of the army, he went to law school. He was miserable during law school, and eventually quit to pursue his MBA.

The author tried to find a job after finishing the military, but nothing was appealing to him. He ended up taking a job as a commercial real estate agent in Maine, which he hated. One year later, the author was fired from his job.

After leaving the Army, the author spent all his energy trying to become this mythical person of success, but what value was he providing. Upon reflection, the answer was simple: none.
