Please note: This is a summary & not the original book.Original book introduction: Today, one in ten Americans is diagnosed with type 2 diabetes, and one in three already has prediabetes. Prescription medications used to treat this chronic disease have unwanted side effects and at best, only manage the symptoms. What’s more, the restrictive dieting protocols used to manage diabetes are difficult to maintain over time.
Yet the latest science shows that a simple approach that aligns your daily lifestyle—when you eat, sleep, and exercise—with your body’s inherent circadian rhythm can be just as effective. Best of all, following this program can enhance every other aspect of your health, from losing weight to boosting immunity.

#2
The body has mechanisms in place to ensure that blood glucose levels remain within a specific range. When these mechanisms go wrong, this can lead to diabetes or hypoglycemia.
#3
There are five types of diabetes, and they are caused by different mechanisms.
#4
Prediabetes is a condition in which blood glucose levels are higher than normal, but not high enough to be classified as diabetes. If left untreated, it can progress to full-blown diabetes.
#5
The goal with diabetes is not to just maintain normal blood glucose levels, but to get them as low as possible, while still being able to function.
#6
Being overweight increases the risk of diabetes.
#7
If you have five or more of the above risk factors, you should be getting checked for diabetes.
#8
Your diabetes risk score is specific to you and cannot be compared to that of someone else. Even within the same family, people can have very different risks for diabetes.
#9
When you have diabetes, you are at a much higher risk of developing other, seemingly unrelated diseases and conditions.
