Introduction
It All Begins with Self-Belief
"I f there is no enemy within, the enemy outside can do us no harm"
The enemy we have within is the negative inner voice, which constantly tells us that we are not good enough and cannot achieve the great feats we see others accomplish.
You have to consciously reject those negative inner voices and believe in the stuff that you are made of if you wish to be the best at what you do as an athlete. To win outside, you must first win inside.
You are a direct reflection of the image of yourself that you create and paint within your mind.
Great sporting performances are built on self-confidence.
Believing in your abilities is crucial to maximizing your athletic potential. With the level of play, competition, and stakes in sports getting higher, self-belief eventually becomes more important in an athlete's performance.
Coaches can motivate beginner athletes to succeed by assigning them tasks that will improve their quality. As a result of increased dedication, training, and competition frequency, they become improved.
The self-confidence gap experienced by many athletes can be temporarily filled by good coaches, supportive parents, and teammates.
Nevertheless, an athlete must believe that he or she has what it takes to accomplish his or her goals to succeed at the top level in sports, whether they are participating in a competition on an international stage, or competing at the Olympics.
Training with self-doubt and hesitation will serve as a huge limitation in one’s quest for victory in any of these top-level competitions.
Talk yourself up
It matters what you say to yourself as an athlete aspiring for top performance.
You must avoid criticizing yourself negatively each time you fail to hit your set target.
Rather than cursing yourself for your shortcomings, be objective enough to seek ways to improve your quality.
Develop a positive image of yourself. Don’t brush off or dismiss the compliments you get from others. Believe you are capable of achieving great things as an athlete.
Don’t count your past achievements as mere luck or coincidence.
Believe in yourself. Believe that you deserve the best. Take the time to recognize and appreciate the good qualities and abilities you have that make
