About this ebook
Cape Cod is a place where diners can watch a fishing boat pull into port, choose fresh seafood from the dock, pick vegetables for a side dish from a local farm, and purchase the perfect bottle of wine from a vineyard that's bottled and aged to perfection on site.
In an easy-to-follow, user-friendly cookbook, KeeKee shares signature and ethnic recipes that guide both novice and experienced chefs to create elegant Cape Cod dishes and more in the comfort of their own kitchens. Her diverse collection includes all aspects of a delicious five-course meal, from a spin on the classic Cape Codder cocktail, caprese appetizer sticks, clam chowder, sweet and tangy ribs, cheddar twice baked potatoes, tiramisu, and much more. A few recipes include a QR code that directs cooks to KeeKee’s YouTube channel for more detailed instructions.
KeeKee
KeeKee is part Cape Verdean, part Western European; a 4th generation Cape Codder whose family migrated to America in 1914. With years of recipes passed down for generations, if anybody knows Cape Cod cooking it's KeeKee. KeeKee had been cooking for family, friends, and major events for over 20 years. In 2020, when COVID-19 shut down the entire world that's when KeeKee realized just how many were touched by her cooking. Messages, calls, and texts started pouring in. People were expressing how they were missing her food at social events and asking about signature dishes and recipes. This inspired her to go live in the middle of a pandemic via a Facebook Page and a YouTube channel to share those beloved recipes.

My daughter, Astoria, for being my best friend and my reason for all the good I do in life.
My husband, Adam, for believing in me every step of the way.
My parents, for being the best parents any child could ask for. They taught me to have a strong work ethic and to never give up. They instilled in me that I can do and be anything and gave me the love and support do make that happen
My siblings: Colleen Edwards, for always being there day in and day out and her unconditional love. Craig Gonsalves Jr., for his kind heart and brotherly love. Scooter Roberts, for his excitement and willingness to help.
My brother-in-law, Trè Edwards, for his love, support, and always being in my corner.
My brother-in-law, Benjamin Smith, for his great idea.
My grandfather John Gonsalves, who always reminded me I was going places.
My grandmother Anita Gonsalves, who taught me authentic recipes when I was young that I always felt deep down in my soul.
My grandfather, Kenny Weeks, the most talented cook I’ve ever known; there wasn’t anything he couldn’t cook and make amazing.
My grandmother, Janet Weeks, who taught me fun recipes and brought laughter into the kitchen and her always real
approach to cooking, which I inherited.
Ashley and Lindsay Adams, for always being my ROD
Fellow author Christopher Setterlund, for answering all my questions throughout this process.
Tia Morrison, for the blog idea in the first place.

TESTIMONIALS
What can I say about my friend Crystal’s KeeKee’s Portuguese Allspice? My first thought, and she knows me well so I can say this, was: I need one more spice in my overcrowded spice cabinet … yeah, I ate those words.
My family has some favorites and I usually don’t stray from the tried and true, because they hate when I try something new to a regular; but I decided to add KeeKee’s Portuguese Allspice to my black bean recipe for Taco Tuesday. I took one bite and was wowed! So I served it to the masses and to my surprise, they said, What did you do to the beans!
Are there more?
All I said was, I KeeKee’d it.
They said, Well that’s a keeper.
Since then, I’ve added KeeKee’s to many savory dishes to which my family now says You KeeKee’d it!
I say Yup, I sure did!
—Jeffrey Beals, Garner, North Carolina
Crystal is very proud of her ancestors and loves to share their stories and recipes. Her recipes are a reflection of her and her family. The first time I had her JAG, you could feel the pride in her cooking and the pride in her stories. The recipe is so delicious and makes you feel like you are home. It is one of my favorite dishes she makes, and I ask her to make it for every occasion, as no one does it better than her. This is an absolute must recipe and will be a favorite around your dinner table.
—Debbie Osier, So. Dennis, Massachusetts
When KeeKee gave me some of her famous Munchup to try, I was honored to try some of her heritage. It was a new dish to me entirely. Let me tell you, this homestyle meal is so flavorful, filling, and absolutely delicious! You can tell she prides herself in her cooking and knows just what to add. I’m blessed to have tried her famous Munchup! It is a must-try!
—Rachael Daggett, Sandwich, Massachusetts
INTRODUCTION
This book is filled with my signature dishes, a few ethnic family recipes, and Cape Cod favorites. Creating recipes for family and friends that they love is one of the most rewarding feelings in the world. I have been cooking and creating for as long as I can remember, but unlike most, my love for cooking didn’t start in the kitchen. Mine started in my family’s living room, where my mother and I would spend hours reading and flipping through cookbooks. We would decide which recipe we liked best, which we were going to try, and oftentimes which ones we were going to recreate.
I’ve been cooking for family, friends, holidays, parties, and social events for over twenty years. Over the last ten years, my signature dishes have become very popular in my local area and have been requested by many. Even when COVID-19 shut down the entire world, that did not stop people from requesting my recipes.
I created a small blog that quickly turned into a Facebook page and then a YouTube channel. That is where I was able to share my dishes. This also gave me the opportunity to help teach others how to cook my recipes and share techniques to save time in the kitchen.
My dishes brought people together in a time when we were all so far apart. When I cook, I always aim to make people happy; I hope this book does the same for you.
