Aging gracefully is not as easy as it sounds and we all have picked up unhealthy habits and have hit rough patches along the way. With all the information out there on health and wellness, you’d think we’d all be in tip top shape and as happy as we can be all of the time.

Yet we seem to be constantly yo-yo dieting, struggling with depression, battling on-going or adult on-set anxiety and some of us have been or are continuing to battle addictions to substances and behavior.

Behavior addictions are less talked about and are things like, social media addiction, video gaming or gambling addiction or even addiction to your fit-bit. The point is, we ALL have something we would like to change or NEED to change. We all have things that are making our lives harder to manage or we have extra weight we need to shed or depression that we can’t lift out of…yet some-how we need to celebrate our bodies and ourselves for who we are RIGHT NOW. How do we do these things simultaneously?

We are human and humans are highly complicated creatures. We take in more than we can consume, we are constantly craving more, but really need less than we think. We think the grass is always greener on the other side so we are never satisfied. We have endless information at our fingertips, but need silence and nature to connect us back to ourselves. In a simple statement…

    we, are, complicated.

The Celebrate Your Body Guide is here to help you to de-complicate things. As I was taking a continuing education course online to further my personal training certification, it dawned on me that this is information I had to PAY for.

Information about the way the body functions, information on how to combat stress, how to stay hydrated and the science behind it, ways to get optimal workouts for different body types, and on and on and on. I do A LOT of research online and I find myself swimming in information.

Because I enjoy (and am pretty obsessed with) learning all this information pertaining to health and wellness, I am happy to do the research, but I realized then that so many people don’t. It’s extremely overwhelming, you don’t know what to believe, there seems to be a diet for everything and workout programs are expensive and hard to stick to. So, I decided to put as much as I could all in one place! It’s honest answers to questions I get all of the time from friends and clients. It’s information that gets confusing and muddy online and then fun stuff to get you motivated if you’re the everyday person who just doesn’t have the time or the money to fit everything in every day.

My main goal for this guide is to get you to celebrate the body that was given to you as it is right now, and to give you the motivation to make the necessary changes that need to be made to get you to a healthier and happier place. In order to celebrate your body, you have to want it to be the strongest it can be to continue the celebration of your life!

    Knowledge is Power

We live in a time where information is at our fingertips and if we want to learn something new, take a new course, or even get a degree, we can do it with much more ease than we

could even 10 years ago. This really makes us all pretty powerful if you think about it. This helps us learn about the world around us, about other people and about ourselves.

I love the saying 'knowledge is power.' It has been a staple in my life since I was a child. Knowing that if I wanted to know something that I didn't know, I just had to do some research. By finding a book or two or taking a class, I was instantly gaining intelligence. I soaked that up! This is why I also know that it is one of the first to steps to transformation

Acknowledging what you want to change is first, then learning how to do it is second. Ask yourself questions like, 'how am I going to make these changes?' 'When do I start making these changes or with who?' This is where the search for

    knowledge begins.

The good thing is, the answers are out there! They are at your disposal! You really just have to choose which route you want to go, when you want to start and who you want to involve. This can definitely be overwhelming because there is so much information out there, but this should be exciting for you!

Knowing that the answers are there can be

comforting. Knowing that when you are ready, there are steps to take and people to help you, can help you to know that whatever change you are seeking is possible!

Knowledge is power! Keep that in mind and let that be empowering to you!

Journal Entry here: Write three things that you would like to change by the end of this year.

Write what typically motivates you and your happiness level on a scale of 1-10.

Ask yourself ‘why’ you want to make these

changes and write your answers down.

What is the obsession with journaling? Journaling is very important in the beginning of making changes. It sets the scene for the next steps in your life. Writing out a list of what you want, how you want it and an attainable goal helps your mind connect to your body and starts prepping it for what it is about to do.

When you just jump into working out one day, or cutting out foods or substances, there is a good chance that you will not do it for long.

The body is shocked and the mind isn't used to this new routine and it's hard to stay focused. The mind will begin to search for old comforting foods and habits. Journaling is also good for emotional or mental release. I often tell people to just write whatever comes to mind, even if it doesn’t make sense.

The best thing about journaling is it is for your eyes only. You can scribble and spell things incorrectly. You can write in margins or doodle.

This gets things out of your head so you can think clearly.
