    The Grassy Knoll

Tolkin sat upon a rock near a grassy knoll. Next to him was his trusty mount named Seacliff. The wise sorcerer was thinking about all the possible adventures waiting for him, just on the other side of River-Earth.

Tolkin looked at Seacliff and said, Hey boy, we’ve known each other for quite some time now. Say, what do you think about going on an adventure? Just like the old days.

Seacliff turned his head and looked away.

    Nevermind you ole boy.

Tolkin then jumped down from the rock and walked toward his satchel attached to his mount’s saddle. Out he pulled a small clear bottle full of magic potion. He took a swig, which straightened his long brown beard and made his hat stand oh so very erect on the top of his head.

It was a hot summer's day in Davenport. Tolkin, with the back of his hand, wiped the sweat coming down from his forehead, which passed over his bushy brown eyebrows. With a sigh he put his arm over Seacliff and patted him on the back.

Gazing at the view of the open meadow, Tolkin admired the beautiful green grass and blue sky that filled the countryside. Mountains appeared to the west, and the city of Eastwick rested ahead.

Tolkin closed his brown leather satchel and said, Alright boy, time we head for Eastwick. I have a few items I’d like to purchase.

Tolkin held the small empty bottle of potion upside down, watching the last drop pour out. He placed the empty glass bottle in his pocket and then mounted his chestnut colored horse.

With a swift tap on Seacliff’s side, Tolkin yelled, Onward boy!

    Tolkin the Sorcerer

And onward they were, riding down the dirt pathway leading to Eastwick. Fiercely, Seacliff galloped over the hills and cobblestone bridges covering the white rippled streams of Davenport.

His blue grey sorcerer’s robe waved through the wind over Seacliff’s tail. The summer heat started to cool, yet after a few hours of travel, Seacliff needed to take a rest. His expeditious stride turned into a slow trot. Tolkin realized this also was a good opportunity to refill his water cauldron. So the two came to a halt.

Tolkin dismounted his horse and unbuckled his brown leather satchel attached to Seacliff’s saddle. He briskly pulled out the cauldron and stepped down onto the stone filled riverbank. Cautiously, he found his footing and bent down, placing his cauldron in the water.

Seacliff shook his head and exhaled a deep breath out of his nostril.

Tolkin looked up and said, What's wrong, boy?

He then turned his head back towards his cauldron and noticed the water was flowing towards the center of the stream. Tolkin then stood from his crouch position and spread his arms out to regain his balance. Lightning and electricity flowed through the stream causing Tolkin to wince.

    Tolkin yelled, Stand back boy!

Water was now flowing in a circle high above the stream in what appeared to be a portal. Unfortunately for Tolkin and his mount, something appeared to be coming out from the other side. And no sooner could Tolkin push Seacliff to safety; out-slithered a large tentacle the size of a great oak.

    The Friendly, Unfriendly Witch

As the Friendly, Unfriendly Witch, named Vendella, stood up from her bed and hung her witch hat on the wall, she said, That's the last time I’ll feed you late night snacks, Snickers.

Vendella patted her cat, Snickers, on the top of her head and walked to her favorite podium. This podium was very magical. It glimmered and sparkled all around the edges swirling a magical powder around her pointy little witch cap.

Vendella pointed her witchy pointer finger at the podium and said, Podium, podium, show me all, show me all I wish to see!

And within a blink of an eye, the top of the podium emitted a dark, black swirl, which instantly revealed an image of a wizard, battling a large octopus-like creature in a large river stream.

Who is this? she questioned. "He's quibbling with my favorite beloved sea urchin named
