THE DRAGON OF THE NORTH

Oee upon a time, the Lands around the Baltic Sea were menaced by a fearsome dragon. It had the body of an ox, Legs like those of a frog, and a snakelike tail that was ten leagues long! The beast's great glowing eyes cursed anything it looked upon…

The dragon came from the far north and roamed across the Land, destroying everything in its path. When it belched, it let out blasts of flame that scorched the earth. The dragon was protected from the heat by iron-hard scales that no weapon could pierce.

One of the villages it destroyed was home to a blacksmith's son called Ivan. He and his parents fled to safety, but their cottage was burned to the ground.
