    INTRODUCTION

This book is number 13 in my Library of unfinished and completed books – a folder on my laptop that I am avoiding as far as I can. Ironically I note this folder every time I log in to do something and I am not particularly trying to see it – but it is like a neon sign and I can’t miss it! I have a few unfinished books waiting for me and I can’t get to them.

Not even half of the list of books in ‘my library’ have been published. And now I end up with sub-folder number 13 - what could be an unlucky number or an unlucky book. But this could also be a sign and an inspiration for me to finish all the half-written scripts or those that are still in the first or second chapter and have just been lying dormant for years. The idea is there. But that is where things are at – I have lots of ideas and many unfinished books.

Maybe you are like me, and you put things off. The idea is there and your mind plays all the scenarios over and over in your head but that is where it stays. You never get into action and you start feeling guilty and then it turns into a psychological warfare between ideas and actions and emotions and you berate yourself and feel incomplete. But this does not spur us into action. We can’t really act when we are not feeling good about ourselves. So it is really a lack of action that becomes a chain-reaction and the result is no action.

For you it might be a diet or a new job or taking that holiday instead of just planning it. Or it is a desired meeting of someone special or perhaps starting a family. Or today it was that plan to clean the house and now you sit in front of the television and feel like all the dust bunnies are laughing at you from the corners of the room. They know and you know that you could not be inspired to action and into taking the vacuum cleaner out of the cupboard. You thought about it for a few hours and you had the plan. You could not actually visualize the clean house, and that is where the idea stayed – just a thought. When you sat down on the couch with that cup of tea, the plan vanished into thin air. It must have been something in the tea. Yes, I am sure of it, they make the tea like that now – it is a conspiracy by those who are always driven and who never put things off and they do not want our competition!

What is holding us back? I hope to answer that question in a few thousand words and maybe we can all be inspired to take control over our lives.

Or we can find ways to sooth our conscience and not think about these things that turn our brains into thought-wrestling
