    FOREWORD

    31042.png

I have had the delight of collaborating with Karen in a number of grief programs that she creates and facilitates. As a fellow healer, using bodywork and energy medicine, I have been blessed to reach greater numbers of people to support, working with Karen, to teach and to uplift. Her legendary kindness and compassion for people who are struggling and suffering has been glorious to witness. Until I had this opportunity to read her own story of healing, I didn’t understand where her endless compassion originated. This tale of her life and her experiences with both terrible abuses and tremendous healing make it clear how the deep well of kindness was dug into her soul.

This is a free-flowing and wandering story, telling truths that far too many of us have reason to find familiar. Karen shares openly and without guile the often brutal facts of her childhood and upbringing—or perhaps better put, lack of upbringing. Woven throughout her tale are the sparks of hope, light, and healing that led Karen to a life dedicated to the healing of others, along with healing her own wounds.

I hope you let this hero’s journey wash over you like the waters of the Nile, sweeping away lingering debris you may be holding from your own childhood traumas, because we all carry some form of scarring. Here, you will find simple and sacred ways of renewing, replenishing, and even relinquishing those scars.

    Very truly yours,

Raven Anne Quigley, LMT, RMT ABF

    ACKNOWLEDGEMENTS

I would first like to thank Ann Minoza of Balboa Press with helping me get my book ready for publication. It was a hard year in publishing with the pandemic, so I thank her for her time, effort and coordination. I thank the editors who worked on my book and gave me feedback.

I thank Brandi Kirk of the Kirk Center in Lockport, Illinois and her staff with providing me with care, and for the physical therapy for my surgery scar and troubled intestines. I know Brandi helped heal me and supported my book, the business and was concerned with my health care needs.

I thank Raven Ann Quigley for agreeing to write the forward to this book. I thank her for her Reiki training and for her outstanding teaching skills! I wish her peace and joy in her new home in Wyoming. I thank her for her support and friendship.

The person who most had a hand in my writing this book is my writing coach Allie Pleiter. She was able to guide me through the writing and the structure of the book. She gave me courage and was able to inspire me with her coaching sessions. I admire her greatly as she has written more than 50 books-maybe more by the time this is published. She is a successful, vibrant and caring. I wish her continued prosperity and thank her for her kindness and her comments.

I want to thank Nancy Ging, my consultant for client’s clinical issues. She is a pioneer and wholistic health expert. She is a fellow licensed clinical social worker who is one of the best consultants I have ever had! I thank God for her and all that she has given me for many years now. I have been truly blessed and am so grateful for her guidance and commentary about world issues!

My yoga teacher Kathleen Wright at Garden of Yoga has been a friend and a supporter for many years now. I loved her zoom classes and her ability to be such a force of nature. She is both loving and kind. I thank her for teaching me to create space in my body, and for the poses I most needed to do when I was at her class!

I thank Dr. Lorene Wu of the Whole Life Center, and her tutorials about my biodome, bone density and blood work that I had post co-vid. I came to her for answers and for help in my ability to balance my life. She is an outstanding Doctor, and really wanted me to have more information about my health issues.

I would like to thank Dr. Maria Rago of Rago and Associates and her nutritionist Stephanie Ciucci for helping me create a plan for healthy eating. Dr. Rago is such a warm and caring person and an outstanding clinician. She got me in touch with my Catholic upbringing by reminding me of the power of Mother Mary and her ability to help me with my trauma clients.

I give a great big thank you for Jim Martin for designing the cover. He is a wonderful artist and thanks for the other illustrations and pictures he designed for me. He is a genius and a visionary. I am grateful and the artwork for the cover is a beautiful part of my office wall. He helped make little Karen and the Priestess come alive for me! When I look at the picture, I feel uplifted and empowered!

    DEDICATION

    32010.png

This book is dedicated to my husband, Richard S. Schultz Jr. His support, kindness and willingness to help me with my business and with editing has been a blessing to me. I thank him for years of loving me unconditionally. I thank God for him, his guidance and his commitment to Carlos, Sarah, and the family. I wish him some rest, some fun and some more happy times. Thank you Rick for your time, nurturing, and for taking care of me and our family.

This book is also dedicated to all of my clients, past and present, who have had the courage and the strength to look inward to address the dysfunction, trauma and the pain that they might have felt as a child, teen or young adult. I am honored to work with them. Those who might live in places where its hard to see themselves as having self-worth or value. This book is for all the people who have suffered with childhood abuse or violence. This book offers hope that you can go from wounded to wonderful. We do have a higher self that wants us to rise up and claim the life we were meant to live. We are important, purpose filled, and we can be empowered to go forward with a new sense of confidence. You can heal and release the painful past to create a new life in the present. I wish you love and the ability to love yourself fully. Never give up!

    INTRODUCTION

    32015.png

It is common knowledge in the spiritual communities around the world that the divine feminine energy is emerging. There is a crisis in the world that needs healing. All of us have a need for the spiritual realm in order to survive this crisis. The divine feminine energy is a powerful way to let light into our lives and to raise the voices and vibrations of women and men everywhere. We as a country need to unite and allow the divine feminine energy to be a leader in this new world order.

Since we are in the midst of a global pandemic, staying home and social distancing while fearing the COVID-19 virus, we may be left feeling powerless and alone. We have an invisible enemy we can’t see and can’t stop. I liken it to being sexually abused and fighting the violence and fear that are invisible and hard to contain. Feeling powerless and having no recourse, survivors of childhood trauma wait for the next time they will face their attacker or abuser. They wonder if anyone else is coming to do harm, having no way to protect themselves. It is a feeling of dread, darkness, and extreme vulnerability.
