About this ebook

“The Everlasting Hunger for Improvement” is a concept developed by Jordan Salzano to aid in the will to become the best possible version of oneself. Jordan is committed to this concept, as it is a part of her and her everyday life. She dedicates her accomplishments to the idea of continual improvement. “Without my drive to become better than I was before, I probably wouldn’t had as many successes and wouldn’t be able to write this book.” Says Jordan. Parts of having that hunger for improvement is discovering how to be honest with yourself, tapping into your passion, changing your perspective to change your outcome, and accept time as your teammate in order to pursue patience in achieving improvement. Do you want to help yourself get to that next level- instead of being victim to difficult situations and limitations? If yes, this book is for you.

Jordan O. Salzano

Jordan Salzano is an aspiring young speaker and author who grew up in Long Island, New York. Through a love of hockey and helping others—and after overcoming specific challenges—she was driven to inspire audiences on stage and through her writing, on the road to self-improvement. Described by others as a compassionate encourager and mentor to others, Jordan developed the Hunger for Improvement process, to help peers and others reach their goals and improve their lives. Currently attending Springfield College in Springfield, Massachusetts, she is pursuing both Occupational Therapy and Communications, and plans to apply both fields to her career. As Jordan states, “Besides becoming an OT, I aspire to become a powerful motivational speaker who influences people from all over the world. That is something I am so hungry for—a dream that never escapes my mind. In fact, you could say that speaking and motivating others is an enormous passion. I want to inspire others who have gone through what I have, to motivate students and others to always remember the Hunger for Improvement points that I 'share'. Putting others before self is a priority of hers. It's just a part of her to want to place other's needs in front of her own. No matter how big or small the project may be, Jordan is willing to give up her free time for the sake of aiding others. It is, as she states, "self-rewarding. Seeing someone else's day brighten up or seeing them smile because of me is an amazing 'feeling'. Motivational speaking is an excellent way to express this passion of hers. As she motivates others, she is motivating herself. According to Jordan, that ties into the "self-rewarding" concept. Motivation is a huge part of her life, as she strongly believes that it should be a part of others' lives as well. Without a sense of motivation, it can be very difficult to even get through a single day. Jordan states that "All of us have probably come face to face with this some time in our lives, and it is safe to say that it is definitely not a settling feeling to have." In finale, Jordan shares her idea that "Motivation is what gives us the life we want to live. Not the desire to live just because we were born and placed 'here'.

    About The Author

    Dedication

This book is dedicated to those in my life who I have benefited from being associated with—and for those who have the same mentality I do: to never stop improving.

To those who have not yet found the answers they’re looking for in the process that they’re engulfed in.

And of course, to my family, for being the best source of support there is out there. I would not be where I am today without them.

    Thank you, all.

    Introduction:

My Desire to Write this Book,

    and a True Story

I have been interested in the concept of motivation ever since I was a young kid. Let me share a bit about my journey, and why this topic is so personal—and passionate—for me.

My love for motivation and passion for innovation in my life has erupted ever since I started playing sports. I used to do karate, and shortly after that, I started playing ice hockey and soccer. To add onto that, in high school, I also picked up tennis, which is something that I have developed a great love for. I have played other various sports in my lifetime, as I am an athletic person.

Of course, with sports, there has to be some type of motivation to perform, because without the energy to want to play, it is almost inevitable that you will not get the greatest results—not just individually, but possibly as a team as well. Every person is vital to a team, and if one piece of the puzzle in fact doesn’t fit, it can impact the outcome—as well as the dynamic.

Years ago, I would go on YouTube and watch videos of compilations of some of the most famous speeches, from present day public speakers to lines from inspiring movies, etc. I loved watching really anything that would light a flame in not just me, but other viewers, too. I began to notice the types of videos that got the most notice, and I saw that they often were very positive and uplifting. The comments on these videos also influenced me, as just about all of them said how impacting and uplifting the video(s) were. Comments ranged from, I feel so motivated now, to, This helped me wake up this morning and go to school, etc.

So, how did this habit of watching positive videos relate to sports? I usually watched these when I would work out or before a sports game or practice—you know, to get pumped! I’d watch compilations on YouTube of athletes talking about their grinds and stories of how they reached their current levels. I would even listen to these videos while walking into the hockey rink—mind you not even warming up yet—because they gave me a sense of confidence, and my adrenaline would start to pump.

It was an amazing feeling, and to put the icing on the cake, I was also playing a sport I loved. When we would first step on to the ice for a game or practice, the words I’d listened to prior ran around in my head, and I would even say them under my breath while I was stickhandling or something (I often loved to stickhandle to start practice, and still do to this day). For those who don’t know, stickhandling is moving the puck from side to side on your blade of your stick, or the bottom of it. Think of it as dribbling, like in basketball. It’s dribbling, except the puck is not supposed to come off the ice and you’re using a stick instead of your hands.

Anyway, I would repeat the words over and over again, and I also would do this when I was actually playing in the game. When the words came to mind, I could feel myself skating harder and going a bit faster, like someone was pushing me.

Something that I have learned not just from these videos, but just from being a student of life, is that improvement is absolutely necessary to get through this journey of life that
