Chapter 1
It’s Monday morning time is, seven o’clock,
it’s a sunny day in Phoenix Arizona. The alarm sounds, Adam wakes up from a good night’s rest. He sits up and turns off the alarm. Even though it’s early, he can hear his father downstairs in the kitchen preparing to make breakfast. He grabs the skillet from the cabinet and place it on the range and turns its on.
Adam is upstairs in his bedroom, he can smell the gas from the range as it heats up the skillet. His father crack two eggs and scramble them in a bowl. He adds butter to skillet, before he adds the eggs to the skillet. Adam can also smell the bacon cooking in the oven. Adam’s bedroom is on the second floor of the house, and the bedroom door is closed. It’s pretty amazing that he can smell his father prepared the food in the kitchen from his bedroom.
Adam’s remove his iphone from the charging and enter his pin, he checks facebook, instagram, and snapchat, typical for teenagers, the world revolve around social media
. He puts his phone back on the night stand and proceed to the bathroom, where he washed his face and brushing his teeth. He’s finish and walks over to the closet door and opens it. He takes time to decide which outfit to wear, because today’s teens it’s all about swag
! He grabs a pair of blue jeans and puts them on, then grabs a solid black t-shirt and put it on. He reaches to the top shelf and grab his black and white vans tennis shoes. He shuts the closet door walks over to the bed sits on it and puts on the tennis shoes.
He goes back into the bathroom by the sink open the cabinet grab a tub of grease and comb his hair. Once he’s finished, he puts the tub of grease and comb back in the cabinet and shuts it. He walks out of the bathroom grab his backpack that’s hanging on his chair next to his desk. He walks toward the bedroom door. There’s a mirror on the bedroom door, Adam takes a second, and looks in the mirror. He looks good, he open the bedroom door and walks downstairs to the kitchen. Adam walks into the kitchen puts his backpack on the chair pulled the chair out and sits at the table.
Good morning, Dad?
Good morning, son.
Adam’s father finish cooking the eggs and bacon, he puts the eggs and bacon on a plate. He walks over and place the plate on the table in front of him. Adam prepare to eats, his father grabs a glass form the cabinet walks over to the fridge and grabs the orange juice and pours Adam a glass.
Here you go.
Thanks, Dad.
Adam’s father grabs the newspaper and sits on the other side of the table, cross his leg, open the newspaper and begin to read.
You know you can save time and trees by reading all that on the internet.
Really, when did you start caring about the environment?
Not really, but its kind old fashion to read the newspaper.
Maybe I like old fashion, the sound the newspaper makes reminds me when I was young and my father would read the newspaper before he went to work.
Before all this technology any thing we wanted to know was in the newspaper or on the local news. There were no cell phone or internet.
Wow, I’m glad I didn’t grow up back in those days!
Yeah, you probably wouldn’t last a day without your phone, now finish your breakfast before you miss the bus.
Adam continue to eat his food while his father continue to read the newspaper. Adam finish eating, he took his plate and glass, and place them in the sink. He grabs his backpack, and walks toward the front door.
See you later, Dad.
Bye, son, have a good day at school.
Adam close the front door behind him and walk down the steps while walking, he reached into his backpack and grab his earbud and plug them in his cell phone. He scrolls through his play list of songs and select maroon five song, "I don’t want to know.’’ Adam rides the transit bus to school, because his Father has a back injury that prohibited him from driving are working. Do to a work settlement it’s provides a comfortable living for his father and him.
While Adam walks to the bus stop, his father goes upstairs to his office and opens the office door. He walks in and close the door behind, he walks over to a painting on the wall. He removes the painting a place it on the floor, there’s a safe in the wall. He puts in the six digit pin number, the safe, beep
, he then turns the handle, and the safe door opens. Inside the safe were files, disks, passports, money, and a USB. He grabs the USB drive shut the safe door and place the painting back on the wall in front of the safe. He walks over to desk and pulls the chair back, and sits down. He presses the button on the monitor of his desktop computer.
The computer comes on, he entered his user I. D. and password, he then puts in the USB in the USB drive. The files take a minute to download when the file is finished, names, address, and pictures are downloaded. Images from Adam’s father when he was a scientist conducting different experiments. Adam knows nothing about this, his father has kept this a secret from him. Adam doesn’t know that he was part of his father’s experiment. Since Adam was a baby until now, his father has monitor him to see if any side effect has occurred from the experiment. He has seen no effect for the experiment, Adam seem to be a normal and healthy teenager.
Adam waits at the bus stop which is a few blocks from his house. He stands there, and wait for the bus to arrive. There’s a lady in her mid 40
sitting on the bench, next to her is a elderly man, he is also sitting on the bench. Apparently the bus is running late, so he stands up and looks down the street. Several vehicles are passing by, no bus yet, he sits back on the bench. Adam noticed the elderly man is being impatience, so Adam looks down the street. He concentrates, he blocks out the sound of the cars passing by. He enhance his vision, clearly pass a quarter of a mile, he sees the bus turning right on to their street. Adam calculate time when the bus will arrive at their stop. Adam politely goes to the elderly man, excuse me, sir?
Yes.
The bus will be he in five minutes.
Oh, really?
The elderly man has a surprised look on his face.
Yes!
If that bus come in five minutes I will pay you fair.
You don’t half to do that.
No, since, you know the bus schedule, I insist.
Ok.
The elderly man set his watch for five minutes, Adam smiles and looks at his watch. Two minutes has gone by, the elderly looks at his watch, no bus. Three minutes pass, no bus, at approximately four minutes and thirty seconds the bus pulls up to the stop. The elderly man looks at his watch, Adam polite says to the elderly man, I told you so
. The bus driver opens the door the lady walks up first then the elderly man walks up behind the lady. Adam walks up behind the elderly man, he’s a man of his word, so the elderly man pays Adam’s fair. Thank you, Adam said.
He walks to the back of the bus and takes a seat.
He sits at the last seat on the right side of the bus. As the bus drives off, he listen to his music and stares out of the window. He reminisced back when he was a kid, and noticing that he was different. That he could do things that a normal kid couldn’t do. When Adam was fourteen his father had overslept, causing him to be late for school. He was rushing to get dressed and eat breakfast. He finished breakfast, he stormed out of the house. Walking really fast, he made to the bus stop. Checking his watch the bus had already passed his stop.
He can see the bus three block ahead stop at a traffic light, he thought for a second. If I wait for the next bus I’ll be really late for school, but if I run I probably can catch it. The traffic light turns green, and the bus pulls off. He takes off running down the sidewalk. It’s a busy sidewalk, people are walking, some are cycling, some are standing and conversing. All the obstacles are in his way.
Running at full speed his vision was clear, he passed the first block in four seconds. Weaving through people the second block was easy less people. The third block was crowded, so he ran into the street, passing many vehicles running at full speed. He passed the bus unnoticed to the next bus stop.
Not even fatigue, he stands there and think about what just happened. This was impossible, how can a fourteen year old kid run that fast. He was amazed! The bus arrived and he gets on the bus and takes a seat near the front of the bus. Thinking, should I tell my friends what I did, probably not, they want to believe me anyway I’ll just keep this a secret.
Adam’s father in the kitchen, he looks in the refrigerator and the cabinets. He writes a list of things he needed from the supermarket. He called for a taxi to come pick him up and bring him to the local supermarket. He goes upstairs to his bedroom, and opens the bedroom door walk over to the closet door and open it, pulls the string to turn on the closet light on. He grabs a pair of black jeans and his black belt, put them on and grabs a solid white color t-shirt and put it on. He been down to move two shoe boxes, behind them is a small safe box, he puts in the combination and open the safe, inside the safe is different types of I D’s, passport, and twenty thousand dollars in cash.
He only takes three hundred dollars enough to pay for taxi and groceries. He always use cash never credit cards. Credit cards can be easily track. He use cash for groceries. He also use cash to get money orders to pay other bills. He has no bank account, no saving account, nothing associated with any bank of that matter. They arrive at the local supermarket, the taxi driver park.
Ok, sir, we are here.
How much?
Thirty dollars even.
Here’s forty, keep the change, and here’s a extra twenty if you can wait ten minutes while I grab a few things.
Okay, thanks, I’ll be right here.
He gets out of the vehicle, he stands for a second and scan the parking lot to see if they were followed. He looks for any suspicious activity, there are several people going to their vehicles. Some people grabbing carts, everything seems to be normal. He walks toward the entrance of the supermarket before entering, he grabs a grocery cart and continue in the store. Adam’s father is very precise, there’s no room for error, get in and get out,
no mingling with the local natives, blend in, but not as much. He checks the aisle grab the things he need informally fashion and goes to check out. There’s a caucasian female, blond hair, blue eyes, about 5’1 in her mid twenty waiting to check him out. He puts all the items on conveyor belt, she begins scanning the items one by one.
How are you doing?
I’m good.
Before she can continue a conversation, he grabs a magazine and pretend reading it, while she continues scanning the items. Even though he’s looking at the magazine, he’s aware of his surroundings. Watching who’s coming in and out of the store, looking at people at the other register, and listening to people behind him conversing at the other register. If anything occur he knows what to do. He shops at this store numerous of time, he knows where all the exits are, and all the employees that work there. She scanned the last item and press total on the keypad of her register.
Total is $95.27 cents.
He reached in his pocket grabs a one hundred dollar bill gives it to her, keep the change,
he said. She takes it, enter
