About this ebook
Lisa T. Garland
Lisa T. Garland was born on the beautiful Island of St. Thomas, United States Virgin Islands, where she completed her high school education. Thereafter, she relocated to New York City to attend Hunter College to obtain her Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science with a minor in Mathematics. In February, 1991, she accepted Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior at a local church in Harlem and served on various committees. She is the mother of two gifted children, whom are the minstrels of the Church of God that she attends. Unsure of her purpose in life, she was lead by God to serve Him as a worshipper, intercessor, and now a writer. She is an inspiration to many and continues to teach her children about God and the importance of serving and worshipping Him. Her prayer is that many souls will be won to Jesus Christ as God uses her to write and testify of His goodness in her life.

DEDICATION
This book is dedicated to my friend, Kendricks Fields, a faithful man of God, who has encouraged me to continue my growth in God, in spite of the trials and tribulations I have gone through in my life and to follow after my dream of writing. His love and devotion to God, his children, and his desire to preach the gospel, has truly been an inspiration to me. He is a light to the world that when others see the good works that he has done, they will glorify our God and his son Jesus Christ which are in Heaven (Matthew 5:14-16). Thank you for being a light to me.

Abba Father, in the name of Jesus, my prayer for my children is that they will:
• Continue to grow in the will, knowledge, and understanding of who you are;
• Become a living sacrifice and witness for you;
• Love you with all their heart, mind, and soul, and their neighbor as themselves (Matthew 22:36-39);
• Serve you and not work towards obtaining the materialism of this world (Luke 16:13);
• Not love money, which is the root of all evil (1 Timothy 6:10), but understand the need and purpose for it;
• Desire to please you in all their ways and let you, God, direct their paths (Proverbs 3:5-6), and that their desire for you will supersede their love of material possessions;
• Let their light shine before men that they will see their good works and glorify their Father, which is in Heaven (Matthew 5:16); and
• Live a humble life regardless of their material wealth.
Proverbs 22:6 (KJV) states, "⁶ Train up a child in the way he should go: and when he is old, he will not depart from it." Help me God to train them up so that you will receive the glory from their lives. I speak life over my children because Jesus came that they might have life and have it more abundantly (John 10:10). I speak peace over my children for blessed are the peacemakers which are called the children of God (Matthew 5:9). I pray that they will not be carnally minded but spiritually minded, which is life and peace (Romans 8:6). Help them to hide your word in their hearts that they will not sin against you (Psalms 119:11) and they will work on obtaining the fruits of the spirit in Galatians 5:22-23.
We do not know the day or the hour when our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ will return, but when He does, I pray that they will be ready to be with Him. 2 Peter 3:10 (KJV) states, "¹⁰ But the day of the Lord will come as a thief in the night; in the which the heavens shall pass away with a great noise, and the elements shall melt with fervent heat, the earth also and the works that are therein shall be burned up." Heaven and earth will pass away but your word will stand forever (Mark 13:31). In Jesus name, I pray. Amen.
To my dearest son, I pray that you will allow God to be your father, whom you can depend on for everything. When you feel alone, abandoned, or rejected, tell your Father, Daddy God, because he cares for you. I pray that you will develop a close and personal relationship with God, through reading and studying His word (through which He will speak to you) and allow His Holy Spirit to lead and guide you into all truth. God is a Spirit and they that worship Him, must worship Him in Spirit and in truth (John 4:24). When you want to be tough and act like nothing bothers you, seek God. It hurts my heart to know that I can’t help you, but God can and He will. God knows everything about you, he understands what you are going through and He is watching over you daily. He even knows the very number of hairs on your head (Luke 12:7). Because God has blessed me to have you, I gave you back to Him at birth. Father God, in the name of Jesus, let your will be done in his life. Amen.
To my sweet daughter, I pray that you will continue to have a burning desire to serve God and that God will use me to teach you more about Him and train you up in the way that you should go. Because you love God with all of your heart and are trying very hard to not make mistakes, you feel that you can never be a good
Christian and that God will be mad with you. Nobody is perfect and we all make mistakes. Therefore, we all have to repent daily for something we have said or done that was not pleasing to God. However, God knows our heart. I pray that you will dedicate your life to God and make Him Lord in your heart (1 Peter 3:15) "²³ and the very God of peace [will] sanctify you wholly…. (1 Thessalonians 5:23). Jesus said in Revelation 3:20 (KJV),
²⁰ Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear[s] my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup [to dine, make a meal] with him, and he with me." Continue to believe in God and don’t let anything separate you from your love for Him. God blessed me to have you and I gave you back to Him at birth also. Father God, in the name of Jesus, let your will be done in her life. Amen.
A PRAYER FOR MY SISTER AND BROTHER-IN-LAW
Daddy God, in the name of Jesus, I pray for my sister and brother-in-law, both of whom have been a significant part of my Christian life. They are my spiritual leaders and I have adopted them as my parents. I am the person I am today because of them. The godly life they lived before me and what they have taught me, gave me the foundation I needed in Christianity. Although I have gone through trials and tribulations in my life, I am still standing, and I still have my faith in God. They have been there for me every step of the way. I am more patient today, more confident about what God can do in the lives of those that trust in Him, and have the faith to believe that God can do the impossible. Please God, continue to give both of them long life, health, strength, and protection from all harm and danger, seen and unseen. Because of their work in the ministry as pastors, over the years, and the work that they are still continuing to do to bring you glory, I know that their labor for you, God, is not in vain. 1 Corinthians 15:58 (KJV) states, "⁵⁸ Therefore, my beloved brethren, be ye stedfast, unmoveable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, forasmuch as ye know that your labour is not in vain in the Lord." Continue to bless them both in their senior years and keep them covered by your blood daily. In Jesus name, I pray. Amen.
WHAT IS PRAYER?
Prayer is talking to God, who wants to have a personal, intimate relationship/fellowship with us. Prayer is our direct line of communication with Heaven. Prayer is important because it allows us to spend time communicating with God and He wants to be involved in every aspect of our life. For example, when we apply for a job, buy car or a home, play a sport, go shopping, etc., God wants to be involved in the decision making process of our lives. He wants us to communicate to Him about everything. What should I do God?
is a good question to ask. Our communication with Him should be like talking to a friend. In the world today, we use devices as a means of communicating and interacting with other people if they are not physically standing next to you. When we pray to God, He communicates with us through His Holy Spirit working in us (an inner knowing) and through his Word. We should also humble ourselves and come before God as little children. Then, we will be considered great in the Kingdom of Heaven (Matthew 18:4). "⁵ for God resisteth the proud, and giveth grace to the humble" (1 Peter 5:5).
