God Inspired Devotionals - Mary Olufunmilayo Adekson

    Who is Mary Olufunmilayo Adekson?

My childhood was full of spiritual adventures after I accepted the Lord Jesus Christ as my Lord and Savior when I was 8 years old. My life has not been the same ever since I encountered my Lord. I remember clinging tightly to the beautiful picture of the lilies (Matthew 6:28-30) that my Sunday School Teacher gave us after her sermon to us about God’s provision and care, that unforgettable and divine Sunday. I determined and resolved in my heart to love this Almighty Father who takes care of the lilies in the field which are here today and destroyed tomorrow. I possessed a childlike belief that this God is going to take care of me throughout my life here on earth. The rest is history. I was transformed with a dramatic vision of God with a personal relationship with Him and God has proved Himself to me over all these years and He still continues to deliver on His Promises. I go to Him for answers for all situations in my life. He listens and answers my cries, petitions and prayers. I am also grateful to my Godly earthly father, late Papa Gabriel Omodele Ekundiya Asanbe-Williams who stood by me during trials, troubles and tribulations. As Psalm 112 verse 6b says, The righteous shall be in everlasting remembrance. You are remembered for all your fatherly care for me and my family.

I am a walking miracle because of Jesus Christ who loves me. I am grateful to You God for the opportunity to know You and be a living witness for You. I stand ! I stand in awe of You !! Holy God to whom all praise is due !!! I stand in awe of You !!!! Thank you so much God. You are AWESOME, HOLY, EXCELLENT and GREAT !!!!!

    CHAPTER 1

    g

God does not need anybody’s help to bless you. He will bless you all by Himself

You are blessed and highly favored by your Heavenly Father.  God has promised to establish His covenant with you as He promised to do with Isaac (Genesis 17:21). And He who has begun a good work in you will complete His blessings in your life with the help of Our Lord Jesus Christ (Philippians 1:6).  God is our Creator and the Creator of the Universe. We are His creation and He created us for a purpose.  And He is able to make all grace abound towards us (2 Corinthians 9:8). God is awesome, high and exalted above all gods (Psalm 92:1-15; Exodus 15:1-21; Job 36:22; Isaiah 33:5-6; Psalm 93:1). John Piper says, there is no power in the universe that can stop God from fulfilling His totally good plans for you.  God is always doing more than we know on our behalf. He is always working toward your good and keeping you rooted in Him. Secure yourself in God not in fellow humans.  God who is unchanging and undeniably great has excellent intentions for your life and your family members lives if they are His (Jeremiah 29:11-13).  So, surrender your all--- talents, gifts, efforts, and service to Him. God will hear you and maintain your cause (1 Kings 8:49).  Trust God and your cup will overflow with His blessings (Psalm 23:5; 103:2 &3-4).  Our God will do all He promises He will do in your life.  In every endeavor, big or small, we can trust God’s heart towards us.  He has a perfect heart to bestow us with His blessings.  Know God. Rely on Him totally not on any other person and your life will take a positive turn for the best. Let the Words of God make you a better child of the Almighty.  Hide yourself in Him. Spend more time with God in prayer and meditation and a deeper digging into His Word.  Acknowledge God’s greatness as you pray and interact with Him. You are an anointed child of the Almighty. Do not go to anyone to get that fact.  Most people do not have the same relationship you have with your Father now.  So, cherish this relationship and do not go to anyone for the blessings that God has solely reserved for you.  You are His anointed and spokesperson and He wants to use you and carry out His plan through you.  Do not throw away your confidence because in quietness and confidence is your strength (Isaiah 30:15c). The joy of the Lord is your strength (Nehemiah 8:10) and you are a conqueror now (Romans 8:37) and you will always be a conqueror.  So, go on your knees when you have a need or a request.  Jesus died for your sins and for your sake and you can approach your Papa with this confidence as your base. You do not need anybody’s help for your Heavenly Father to pour His blessing on you and your loved ones. He blessed all our fore-parents in the faith and He is waiting for you to ask for your blessings. He will do for you what your friends and anybody else cannot do.  So, approach the throne of mercy and be blessed today and every day.  May God’s grace and mercy be in your lives.  Amen.

    CHAPTER 2

    g

Trusting God when the times are tough and uncertain

I hope you are trusting your Papa and hanging in tight to Him during these days of uncertainty.  If you are like me, I know you are also praying and believing Him for miracles during these times. The Bible says blessed is the woman or man who trusts in God (Jeremiah 17:7-8; Psalm 1:1-3).  The Psalmist proclaims that no good will be withheld from those who put their trust in God and walk uprightly (Psalm 84:12). Verse 13 of Psalm 84 says the Lord of Hosts blesses those who trusts in Him.  In other words, as the Word warns in Psalm 37 verse 3; 71 verse 5; 22 verse 8 and 32 verse 10; Proverbs 3 verse 5 and 28 verse 26; Isaiah 50 verse 10; Mark 10 verse 24 and 7 verse 5; Jeremiah 7 verse 4 and 17 verses 5 to 6 and 9 to 10 and Matthew 27 verse 43, we should neither trust in riches, other men or woman, or in a friend. Why, because these people and things will all fail us.  We must put our trust solely in God, our Creator and the maker of heaven and earth and be like the man or woman in Psalm 1 verses 1 to 3 and Jeremiah 17 verses 7 to 8.  If we commit and start practicing putting our trust in our Maker we will not stumble or be disappointed. And when tough times come, which surely they will, we will abide under the shadow of the Almighty until the calamity and problems are over (Psalm 57:1; Psalm 91; Exodus 12:13, 23).  How can we do this?  By starting to trust that Our Papa will make all things work together for us (Romans 8:28) and also abide on the promise that God shall perfect all those things which concerns us (Psalm 138:8a).  Are you tired of hearing all the bad news?  Trust in the One whose News is excellent news for you and your family (Jeremiah 29:11-13).  God says it shall be well with you and your household.  Claim this and take it to the bank of trust in Jesus who died for you.  Do not fret. Do not be dismayed. Pray. Praise. Read the Word and tell others about Jesus whom you love and it shall be well with you. Amen. Does anything make you fret? Sing to the Lord and as Paul says in Philippians 4 verse 6 be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God.  God our Father who was with the Israelites (Exodus 12:13-28) will be with all of us during these uncertain times. Be assured of my prayers.  When we call, He hears and answers us.  May God be with you and your family and keep you safe, secure and healthy under the shadow of His wings (Psalm 91) Amen.  No evil shall befall you, nor shall any plague come near your dwelling (Psalm 91:10). Be blessed today and every day.  May God’s Hands be in your lives. Amen.  May God give you traveling mercies and take excellent care of you. Amen

    CHAPTER 3

    g

When God gives you a gift, He also gives you the grace to use it

I hope you are basking in God’s glory daily as His beloved.  Learn to commit your ways to the Lord from a young age and your plans will succeed (Proverbs 16:3).  Each of us should use whatever gift we have received from God to glorify His Holy Name (1 Peter 4:10; Ephesians 4:11-13; 1 Corinthians 12:8-10, 28-30; Romans 12:6-8). Paul highlighted different offices that are designated for us as God’s children in Ephesians 4 verse 11; and Romans 12 verses 6 to 8, he lists the spiritual gifts we are endowed with. 1 Peter 4 verses 10 to 11 classified the gifts into those of speaking and serving.  Paul instructed us that if teaching is our gift we should use it to build up, stabilize, unite, equip and mature the church and God’s people (Ephesians 4:11-13).  Each of us should pray and ask God to show us what our God-given gift is and how we can use this gift to glorify His Name in the world. Young or old we have all been endowed with different gifts. Once you identify your gift, pray like Isaiah did that God will make you pure and holy to use your God-given gift.  Use your gift to glorify His Name not for selfish ambition or self-glorification. When God gives you a gift He backs you up with all the resources you will need to use that gift. Joseph, Daniel, David, Elijah, Paul, Moses and our Godly fore-fathers all used their gifts to glorify God and they were blessed for doing so. Surrender to God and use your gifts and talents every day to make His Name great. To recognize and utilize your gifts, you must immerse yourself in His Word, pray incessantly
