BJ North was born on West Coast of Tasmania, going to school in Strahan and Queenstown. In the early 1950’s it was still fairly isolated, but a safe place to live and grow up. At 18 she left with a friend to find work in Hobart, then later moved to Burnie. She spent most of the later years in the far North West in the Smithton area. She was never a great student, but for 20 years, she has been putting thoughts into words, and it is only now where she finds time to put her thoughts into words then into print.
