Voices from the Soul - Leonard Blount

    A friend

The stars never find the strength,

    To desert the sky.

    The flower never failed,

    To visit in July.

    I’ve experienced days

    When things didn’t go right.

You approached me with a positive spirit,

I was able to win the fight.

    I think of the beauty,

    That melodic music brings.

    I think of the warmth,

    That’s introduced by the spring.

    But there isn’t a feeling,

    That could ever contend,

    With the beautiful thought,

Of having you as a friend.

What Shall I Leave My Child

When I’m gone and he is here all alone,

Shall I leave him a smile or a groan?

Shall I leave him hope and faith?

Shall I leave him agony or grace?

Shall I leave him a toy?

Shall I leave him a prayer to be a sweet boy?

The answer will take more than a little while,

What shall I leave my child?

Shall I leave him silver or gold?

Shall I leave him the new or the old?

Shall I leave him the money that I saved?

Shall I leave him my thoughts and my ways?

Shall I leave him a home or a grave?

Something to hate or something to
