About this ebook

Eight lovers play the harp into my heart. The story is about our first encounter to hand-holding, to free-falling, and finally to the sadness of attachment and needing to let go. The love experience is a collection of poems, songs, sonnets, short stories, and journal entries inspired by the beautiful women I have had the blessing to fall in love with.

Dustin Scaccetti

Dustin Scaccetti is one of the chefs at the charming and luxurious Yeamans Golf Club located north of Charleston, SC. He has lived in such places as Cape Cod Massachusetts, Herber Valley Utah, Salt Lake City Utah, Hyde Park New York State, Copper Mountain Colorado, Deerfield Beach Florida and grew up in Trenton New Jersey and North East Philadelphia. He is a graduate of the Culinary Institute of America. When he is not cooking, he will most certainly be traveling to places he’s never been before just to experience them. He will find the most hole in the wall or locale place and choose to dine there and strike up a conversation with whoever is willing to share a few words with him. After he will write it all down in a journal he keeps on him at all times. He is the biggest believer in love and always will be. For now he lives in a small town northwest of Charleston, SC called Summerville.

    Thank you

There is nobody more I would like to dedicate this book to than the people that made this book possible in the first place. Every one of you impacted me in such a significant way, and at a time I needed you most. You have been some of my greatest teachers and through it all we had an amazing ride together. I want to say thank you for sharing yourself with me and I look forward to the next time I get to see you again. Peace, Love, Happiness.

    Introduction to Love

So here is the 10 million dollar question that we all are asking ourselves, what is love exactly? I like how in the movie Anchor Man they try to answer this question. If you haven’t seen the movie I will explain briefly. Ron Burgany played by Will Farrele falls in love with his co ancor Vironia Corneringstone. The next day Ron and his other co anchors are trying to explain in their own perspective what love is. Ron on the other hand starts to sing Afternoon Delight by Starland Vocal Band. Together they all join in and sing this song but after they say he is crazy. I think what Ron is trying to explain to them is that love isn’t just this, or that, but it’s a full on experience.

The Greeks have explained and even defined what this phenomenon is as it appears in many different forms. Eros is an erotic love tied to romanticness but also intense sexually feelings. Philia is a friendship love, a best friend forever. Agape is a spiritual love, a selfless and unconditional love. Storage is a familiar love like the love you have no matter what for your mother, father, sister, brother. Ludus is that butterfly love you have for someone when you first start dating and you cannot have enough of that person. Mania is that attachment and obsessive love. Pragma is enduring love that carries you on into your old ages. Finally philistia is self-love, not egotistical in anyway but a sincere enjoyment of understanding yourself.

With all these points covered you can see that love is not such an easy thing to define. Love is not just one thing it encompasses almost every single aspect of our lives. Love is… Simply put love is everything to us. That’s why we feel euphoria when we fall. That’s why are stomaches feel like they will shit out of us when we know a potential break-up is in the works. That’s why we do things that really have no justification for, we just act and live on this force we call love. And it isn’t all pretty
