He speaks to us quietly in a way like no other

Getting our attention and revealing to our mind

That which does apply of obvious need

And that which we try to cover

Our issues and topics of meaning

Various subjects we do need to address

He wants us to take a look and notice

Our ways and our doings, each side of the picture

From north, south, east and west

Sometimes it doesn’t come quickly because we fail

To heed and to accept the call

And it roars in like a crash of thunder

We wonder, Dear God is that all

Another bolt of lightning, pounding on our door as we holler

Oh Lord, please no more, no more

But He must get your attention

Be it loudly or a sweet whisper in your ear

Listen closely, my child because at that very moment

That is when Our God is so near
