Jimmy D Davis is a retired public school Superintendent and active Pastor and Teacher. He has earned both BS and MEd degrees from Texas State University, with advanced work at The University of Texas and West Texas A&M University. He also holds an earned Doctorate of Theology. Preface

I write this book for you. You are a person; a person with personal issues that require healing. No other person in this world may be aware of your issues. You, yourself, may not even be fully aware of some of your personal issues; but you have them; just like every other person in this world. I write this book in order to share a formula for healing in your life that will not only give you comfort and peace in this life, but will give you perfect comfort and peace for eternity to come in life after death.

For some time I have felt the urging of the Holy Spirit within me to share some of the truths of God that can be of such help and comfort to anyone who will just listen and learn. I have felt the urging to share God’s perfect formula for absolute and total healing and comfort for anyone who is suffering in life.

The Holy Spirit has given me a compassion for suffering people, and a desire to do what I can to help alleviate such suffering. The very best thing that I know to do is to share God’s perfect formula for the healing and comfort we all need. As Peter told the crippled beggar at the Beautiful Gate of the temple, who asked for a gift of help: Silver and gold have I none, but, such as I have, I give you. In the Name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, rise up and walk. Peter shared God’s Healing Formula with this crippled man, and God healed him. The man had the faith to receive the healing and then praised God for receiving it.

Some of you who read this preface will see that it is a religious book, and will put it down, not wanting to hear it. I really believe that the people who need to listen the most are those people who don’t think they need help; people who aren’t physically crippled or seriously ill, and who don’t even need money or material things. Some people are just so comfortable in life without the faith and trust so necessary for eternal life, that they will just go through life feeling good here on earth, and then suffering horribly for eternity without God and His loving salvation. That’s why Jesus said that it would be easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle than for a rich man to enter the Kingdom of Heaven. Some people just won’t ever listen, much less follow through with the other elements of God’s Healing Formula. It is my sincere prayer that you are not one of those people. Some people are actually suffering but just don’t want to admit it, as if considering it to be a weakness of some sort.

I write this book for you. You are a person, and every person has suffered, is suffering, or will suffer in this life. If you don’t know Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior, and have not been born again of the Spirit, then you are suffering severely and may not even realize it. If you do know Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior and have been born again of the Spirit, you have experienced at least part of The Healing Formula. It is still there for you and God waits for you to apply it to your life for the healing you need.

The most dangerous position you can possibly be in is to go through life without any major suffering or problems. It’s only when you are really sick, that you know you need a doctor. The greatest doctor of them all is Jesus Christ. He is the Great Physician and He wants to give you perfect healing and peace in life. Follow His Healing Formula as I share it with you in this writing.

The Cure for Personal Suffering

"Who has believed our report? And to whom is the arm of the Lord revealed? . . . . He was wounded for our transgressions, He was bruised for our iniquities . . . . and with His stripes we are healed." Isaiah 53:1,5

Introduction

You may be a young person who has been left out in life. As a child you were never chosen to be on the team. As a teenager you were not a part of the peer group you wanted to associate with. You may have even been ridiculed or humiliated in some way. Your ego and self-esteem have been hurt and you feel depressed and are in need of emotional healing. You may have turned to alcohol or drugs to help ease the hurting. You need real healing and not just a cover of the symptoms.

You may be a mother or father who has lost a child, or a man or woman who has lost your spouse.

You may be a military veteran who suffered physical and emotional wounds during your time of service to your country. You may be active in your military service now and are experiencing the depression and emotional distress of being separated from loved ones.

You may be a young man or woman who is suffering from cancer or other serious illness and it has brought you to the depths of despair. You are in need of emotional healing as well as physical healing. You need the remedy that will heal the actual injury or illness and not just address the symptoms.

You may be an older woman who has been criticized by co-workers or even people in your church and have suffered deep emotional injury. You need emotional healing. You don’t need just the things of the world that will help make you feel better. You need real healing of the real problem.

You may be an older man who has been laid off of your job. Your ego has suffered injury and your role as a husband and father is suffering as a result. Your self-esteem may be injured and you feel depressed and even angry with the world in general. You are in need of emotional healing. The temporary remedies of the world will only mask the symptoms. You need real healing of the real problem.

You may be a part of a local church congregation that is experiencing bickering, disagreement, and even hostility among its membership. The fellowship factor is damaged or even lost and is in dire need of healing in order to restore the loving Christian atmosphere that should be characteristic of any local church fellowship. The worldly remedies may temporarily cover the real issues, but this local church is in need of real healing for the real problem.

You may be a mature Christian, even a pastor or church leader, or you may be someone who knows little or nothing about Jesus Christ. Regardless of your position in life, you have needed, need now, or will need emotional healing.

The Healing Formula can work for you. Whether it is an individual or a group, anyone old enough to experience emotional distress is in need of emotional healing. It is simply part of human nature to feel depressed, distressed, lonely, sad, bitter, angry, and altogether emotionally distraught at some point in life. It may be something as simple as having your feelings hurt, or something as serious as losing your closest loved one, by death or separation such as divorce. Every individual and group has suffered, is suffering, or will suffer some sort of emotional injury and distress. There will be some kind of emotional distress that will take place in every individual’s or group’s life, simply because we are human beings. As human beings we require the power of our creator and His perfect Healing Formula to heal us from our emotional illnesses and injuries. Jesus Christ, the perfect Son of God, is the answer.

CHAPTER 1

The Healing Formula

No matter how satisfied and comfortable you may feel currently, every single person who has ever lived has needed, needs now, or will need emotional healing. There is a formula for healing that will absolutely heal the deepest emotional hurt any person can experience. It is truly simple to apply to your life, yet it is the most profound formula ever developed for human needs. It was developed by God.

The Healing Formula can be expressed in a summation equation:

Listen + Understand + Believe + Admit + Repent + Trust + Commit + Submit + Pray + Study = Healing

I realize this is a somewhat lengthy equation, but keep in mind that it is simple addition. You add one component to the other in sequence and you come to a total solution to the problem. As we investigate each element of this formula, it is my earnest prayer and hope in the Lord that you will gain the insight Jesus Christ wants you to have in order to realize His healing power in your life.

In Matthew Chapter 8, we see several examples of Jesus Christ healing people who were very sick and hurting in life. He cleansed a man with leprosy, a horrible disease that resulted in decaying flesh and eventual death. He healed the servant of a military leader who was stricken with the palsy, a tormenting disease that is marked by uncontrollable tremor of the body. He healed the mother of Peter, one of His Apostles, who was sick with a severe fever. Jesus Christ was, and is, the Great Physician. We see the recorded accounts of a multitude of people that He healed from both physical and mental illnesses and injuries. There is perhaps no more severe mental illness than that described in Mark, Chapter 5. The man described was severely mentally disturbed. He was homeless, living in a cemetery, spending his life wailing and moaning and cutting himself with stones. He was so severely disturbed that the Scriptures explain that he was possessed by demons. Jesus cast the demons out of the man and healed him completely.

If Jesus Christ can heal all of those people with such varying diseases and conditions, you must know He can heal emotional distress, depression, sadness, and loneliness. Not only does Jesus have the ability and the power to do so, He stands ready and willing to do just that. He has the earnest desire to heal you today. He wants to give you complete and total peace in your life. You simply need to follow His formula.

As you search for healing, comfort, and peace in your life, you should notice that each element of the Healing Formula is an action verb. Each element requires action by you. Don’t expect to have true healing occur in your life unless you actually do something for yourself. If you will only put into practice each of these elements in your life, you will find yourself in the kind of relationship with God that will bring you complete peace and confidence in this life and
