Human Whispers - Samuel Appiah
9 Miles Away
Cool summer’s night you’ve gone for a ride
At night time with company by your side
Before 9 miles you encounter a bump
Tears fall after doctor told you it was more than a lump
Some arrive prematurely
An implication that can affect the baby
Whereas a few arrive in a set of two
Genealogy dependent on some that have gone for a ride
before you
9 miles later after the ride is done
There are two places a child can work with option of one
With Mr. Rod and his staff
Or Mr. Insubordinate in face of elders always laugh
The parents assist in such a decision
Evident in the way the child has been risen
9 mile ride in poor weather conditions
Can have, on one, immense implications
Poor weather can include many a thing
From a child born to parents without a wedding ring
To the dis-obedient engaged in teenage pregnancy
A trend that runs through many a family
Or is this how many a family start?
Daughter kicked out of home dis-obedience in her luggage
In a lonely state, anyone will do for homage
A son of dis-obedience offers her a lift
9 miles later everything is moving so swift
He stops the lift he offered her
Leaving her by the curb shouting he don’t care
Daughter now has a baby in her baggage
No money to pay for rent or a mortgage
Hostel to live in is her best bet
Her weather condition is bad regardless how much sun shine she may get
All because she rejected her parents umbrella
A covering in comparison to none other
Umbrella since birth is the best you can receive
Protecting from bad weather and anything else one may conceive
Covering looks over in case you implement a wrong decision
Covering protects from weather of any condition
Blazing heat in the affairs of man
A covering will teach diligence in a plan
Thus shielding from any harmful rays
Covering keeps you dry and calm on any rainy day
Whether it is physical rain or gloom of a circumstance
Umbrella keeps you sane in your walk or stance
360 degree spherical protection over you
If you think you can talk behind their back you’re a fool
In God I land all my trust
For all His ways are true and just
A Nod
Acknowledge and appreciate You with a nod
You are good You are God
Comfort in the staff, discipline in the rod
In the silence of my tongue You discern my heart
My condition is evident whether I laugh or fart
You are so wonderful and marvelous
A description of you word’s can’t express
Your name may I be given the grace to bless
May my larynx and my tongue
Have a new way to praise better than the prior one
The thought of You causes my words to mu, mu mumble
Walking along the road Your grace permits me to stumble
I have greater things to feel embarrassment over
Laugh
