About this ebook

"Tears of a Son" is a compilation of poetry for anyone who has ever experienced love, joy, lost, hurt, and pain. This book shows that there are other ways to find inner self. It was written through the eyes and mind of the author after a series of emotionally draining events, which greatly impacted his life for the better. It is Godwin's unique outlook on life as he came to a crossroad after trying to do things on his own; he turned to God for answers and it was revealed to him that the pen is stronger than the sword. Once he acknowledged God, the Lord worked through his life, towards a brighter future, with the power of words to set him free. He wants the inspire others to find their outlet to express themselves in positive ways, seeking God for guidance in their lives.

Godwin H. Clarke

Godwin Clarke grew up in the Caribbean islands of Trinidad and Tobago, before relocating to the United States of America in 2008; leaving behind his friends, family and loved ones in search of that great American dream to become an entrepreneur. He is the sixth child out of seven brothers and sisters. His birth was one of true prayers and triumph, surviving the misdiagnosis by doctors given to his mother during her pregnancy, which could have killed him. Godwin had a relatively normal life, while being raised in an environment similar to a farm. Although he was very much loved by his friends and family, he submerged himself in his overwhelming shyness, in order to mask the feelings of emptiness, hurt, and pain. Godwin was born into a spiritually grounded family and the timely introduction of Jesus Christ into his life, was life changing, while being plagued by his rebelliousness and temper. His journey throughout life has thus far brought an understanding of the inner self. Godwin encourages those he have met and those he have yet to meet, to charter and challenge their journey from the true starting point; which is deep within. "In order for one to truly experience one's life, one must explore his soul."

    Dedicated to:

    My Loving Parents

    Trevor and Sylvia Clarke

Thank you for giving me life and allowing me the opportunity to walk this earth and experience the joy and sorrows that many didn’t even get the chance too. I know that I have caused you both much emotional pains growing up, and for that I truly sorry. I want to give you both thanks for doing the best job you could in raising and supporting me. Thank you for always being there for me whenever I needed you.

    I know I was a handful…

    I WILL ALWAYS LOVE YOU!

    Acknowledgement

I would like to thank the Lord, first and foremost, for His patience, love, guidance, and understanding for me, as I fought and rebelled against His word; which resulted in some of life’s painful experiences. God still guides me and protects me along my journey through life’s twists and turns and even if I go astray, He is there for me with open arms inviting me back home.

Next, I would like to thank my family for putting up with me all these years, for all my trials, tribulation and tears as I made my journey through life. Thank you for the shoulders to cry on, the ears to listen and the advice given. I do appreciate you all for pushing, supporting and all the encouragement in getting this book finished. Very special thanks to my dear friend Patrice, who led the way in producing her book. She showed me that despite whatever may be going on in our lives to be strong, and keeping pursuing our dreams. For all the calls, texts and the editing of my book, thanks and may God continue to bless you as you go along your journey.

Then there are my friends, both here and in Trinidad who took time to read my poetry and gave me their opinion. This meant a lot to me, giving your encouragement to complete my dream.

Finally, to all the people that inspired me to write and continue writing. To go to the next level, believing in
