About this ebook

A Letter to My Daughter

My daughter, My one of a kind princess, I knew you before you were conceived. I knit you together in your mothers womb and brought you forth on the day you were born. I chose you when I planned creation. You are not a mistake; I took great care and thought when I made you. I love you unconditionally. Prepare to start loving you again. Prepare to be made over from the inside out.

Know that I have a plan for you; plans to prosper you, not to harm you, I have plans to give you a future filled with hope (Jeremiah 29:11 NET). Prepare to move from a place of brokenness to wholeness. Prepare to be empowered, restored, and set free.

Love you always

Your Daddy( Jesus)

Thank you, Jesus, for giving me this opportunity to write about you and what you want to do in your daughters’ lives. Thank you for never giving up on me and seeing the best in me even when I didn’t see it in myself. Thank you for entrusting me with the assignment to write The Divine Makeover.

I also thank my family for their support and for loving me unconditionally. I thank my brother, Chris, for keeping the promise he made to Mommy to always be there for me.

I thank my Pastor, church families, and Women of Destiny and Praise for pouring their love and prayers in me.

I thank my husband, Lloyd Key. I didn’t know that when I said I do to him that I was receiving gifts from God wrapped up in a strong hunk of a man who loves the Lord. I’m truly blessed. I thank him for being my covering, friend, husband, and lover. I thank him for allowing me to walk out the purpose and plan God has for me and for believing in me. I thank him for encouraging and supporting me to write this, my first book. His continued love, support, and confidence in me have given me the strength to press on even when I felt like giving up. I love him very much.

This book is dedicated to a virtuous woman—my mommy, Doreth Louise Byfield-Drummond, who raised me to be a woman of faith, strength, and excellence. Her love, support, and prayers gave me the strength to push on even when I was afraid. Her sacrifice to come to the United States and her determination have given me the opportunity to accomplish all I have accomplished and to write this, my first book.

Mommy, thanks for leaving me a rich legacy of faith and for teaching me how to trust the God in me. I love you with all my heart.

    Introduction

I’m a work in progress. Ladies, I’m happily married and have a powerful ministry and a thriving business. But my life hasn’t always been peaches and cream. I had to learn how to accept the lemons life served me and turn them into an Arnold Palmer—lemonade and sweet tea.

I remember three lemons that were so bitter I didn’t know how to make them taste sweet. Those lemons were life-changers; they rocked my world and left me angry and bitter.

I was born in Jamaica and lived with my parents and my younger brother, Chris. My first lemon experience happened when I was young. Back then, my brother was a pain in the you know what, but my father was my hero and my mother was a gem.

My picture-perfect, happy family turned out to be a lie when my father and mother divorced. No one wins in a divorce; everyone hurts, and everyone loses. At age eleven, I learned my first life lesson—don’t believe in marriage or people, because both will hurt
