    About the Author

To my children, who didn't have a choice to be a PK. Selah Leora, Everly Harvest, and Calvin Noel—I love you all so much.

    Where It All Started

Since I could remember, I always trusted my parents. Every fearful, terrifying, and anxious moment I ever had in life was seized by the words of my father when he said, You have to trust me, everything is going to be just fine. Those words are heavy and carry a lot of weight to them especially in the middle of chaos. 'Til this day, I find comfort and peace whenever I talk to my father about my problems. I'd like to say he's a walking Bible. Just as I find comfort in the Word of God, I also find comfort in my dad. As for my mom, what can I say? She's like my partner in crime. She's also someone I find comfort in. My mom's favorite line that she would always say to me is, Son, trust me, I've been there before, and everything is going to work out.

The trust they always wanted my sisters and I to have was not from just experience but from being confident in the Word of God. See, I finally realized that even when your world is upside down, and things are not going your way, you still have to trust God. I learned this early on in my life. From a child, I realized I was born into a unique family. Not just an ordinary family, but a family who would put their whole trust in God. We are a pastoral family, brought up in the ways of the Lord our entire life. I am the son of a pastor, which makes me a pastor's kid.

You see, it started in 1989 when my parents met at a McDonald's. They quickly developed a relationship that turned into a marriage and still to this day growing strong. I was born on July 3, 1990, in Hammond, Indiana, where my mom was born and raised. My father was raised in Harvey, Illinois, which wasn't a far drive from where he had worked. My father was my mother's manager. My dad always shares the story of how he knew my mom was his wife from the first day he laid eyes on her. Eventually, I ended up being the first born, then my sisters had come along. That makes three of us, and altogether as a family, it is five of us, and we are the Suttles family.

Genesis 2:18: The Lord God said, ‘It is not good for the man to be alone. I will make a helper suitable for him.'

    Trust God

Trusting someone totally takes time. Observing their actions, words, and loyalty become anchors that hold us steady, giving us the comfort and confidence that we need to trust within a storm or just on a beautiful calm day so that we won't drown or drift away. Trusting my parents was never a hard thing for me to do. For the first time in my life I questioned if the decision they were about to make was the right one for me and my sisters. I was seven years old and in the first grade. My father decided to take the assistant pastor job in Chicago and it was time to move. I only remember driving away from school staring out
