My Valleys Are Temporary

About this ebook
grew into a mature and lovely young lady. She has a heart of gold
and all she really want in life is to be happy, pursue her dreams of
writing and reach out to people who has walked in her shoes. Lattice resides
in Washington, DC with her family.
My Valleys Are Temporary is basically Lattices life. This book is filled with
poems about growing up in this world feeling unloved, unwanted and why
was I born. Living life in self destruction because you just dont care anymore.
Getting to the point where you try to take your life because you just cant
endure the pain, hurt, disappointments and heartache any more. At some
point in life, we live down in the valley. The place where nobody feel we are
worthy enough to be something and somebody but at some point you have
to see the mountain top and begin to climb.
Lattice Johnson
Lattice Johnson was born and raised in Washington, DC. She grew up in the Southeast area of DC, living with her mother. Due to her mother facing her own demons, Lattice moved around a lot as well as grew up very quickly. She did know her father but he was in/out her life. With no guidance and feeling unloved, Lattice turned to the streets, men, drugs and whatever she could think of to survive. At the age of thirteen, she gave birth to her first child D’Angelo. Being a teenage mother did come easy for her, because she had a little brother she took care of before she had her own. In her eyes she had two kids. In 2004, she gave birth to her second son, D’Avoni. Lattice attended Sousa Junior High School and that is where her love for journalism grew. She had already vented her trials and tribulations in a journal, but at Sousa she became apart of the Bobcat Newsletter. She learned that writing was a good outlet for her as well as away to help others that has experienced her hurt and pain. With all the downfalls Lattice has taken in her life, she managed to complete high school and attended University of the District of Columbia for journalism. Due to life situation Lattice dropped out of college, to get a job and help provide for her son and brother. She later went to Career Technical Institute where she became a certified Medical Office Administrative.

Plenty of people gave me love, support and inspiration to pursue this dream.
But one person gave me something I didn’t know exist…
a deeper love for my pen.
You never judge or gave me bad feedback
Just encouragement and gave words of wisdom
You gave me a new love for my pen
By pushing me to dig deeper then the norm
Challenged me to look around
See that poetry is every where not just my life story
You took me under your wing
And help me learn to spread my wings and fly
It disappointments when others don’t know you like I do
You have rung my phone to uplift my spirits
You have gave me words of strength to carry on
You have become more then poetry to me
You became my dear friend
But I have to thank poetry
Because down on poetry road is where…
I found a true love for my pen
Through a mentor by the name of Tarringo Vaughn

To get to this place in my life is truly a blessing. There was times when my faith in the man above had disappeared. I didn’t understand how can someone who love you so much, take you through so much turmoil. But then it came to me, he created me to be as strong as I am. I thank him in so many ways, and I just step out on faith now.
In my life I have a few people that love me unconditionally. They understand that I am not perfect and I am a work in progress. My mother, Doris Porter… we didn’t always see eye to eye but we have grown to have a bond that is priceless. You have become the best mother you can be and I thank you for changing your life around. I have never said this to you but I say it now… I am proud of you and the mother you have become. My father, Ezekiel Johnson… I have always craved for your love and support. I always wanted you in my life on a regular basic, now that I have that, my life seems so full and complete. To my babies, D’Angelo and D’Avoni, you are my life. I will give my life and freedom for all your hopes and dreams to come true. You are my world. Mr. and Mrs. Daniel Jones, we have finally got to a point where we can call each other family. Our lives are an example of maturity and extended family. People my think we are crazy but we are completely sane. The love of our kids has helped us grow. To my other half, Fred Massey aka Jr… we have
