Not only am I the girl from @lemikasummer96 who was honored to meet the great icon 2Pac Shakur, I'm also a poet! I'm a single mother with a dream who chose to make it come true! Although Pac was one of the first souls that inspired through his art, physical being and spirit, I'm also moved by other legends and beautiful souls, which led me to create a unique style of poetry I refer to as Letters From an Angel. I've been writing poetry the majority of my life. This has helped me get through some difficult times and I wanted to share my gift with the world. Some may already know 2Pac Shakur took me under his wing and did a lot for me; I'm not talking about material things, but knowledge and wisdom that he passed down through his words and time. He often told me I had a gift with my words and that they will be heard one day. My poetry book is to release this side of me and to pay homage to the late icon and other public figures who affect this world on such a global scale that allowed me to create and express the impact their demise had on me. This inspired me to write these poems. These poems were written to help loved ones get that last goodbye from the deceased. Although the letters are fictional, my goal is to help their families have hope, patience, healing and understanding through this forever-long grieving process. We all have experienced the loss of loved ones. When a close family member of mine transitioned, I wrote my first letter. That letter helped me understand the process of letting go and spiritual love. However, I've decided to add years of different styles of my poetry in this book! If you have lived, this book of poetry applies to you. This book not only has Letters From an Angel, but covers current events, history, inspiration, illness, love, heartbreak, society impact, truth and so much more. There's truly something for everybody. This is a journey that my audience and I will take together. Thanks for all the love and support; fasten your seatbelts and let's take this ride. s in a car accident sophomore year of high school, which led me to a wheelchair. This life-changing event opened my eyes and gave me a second chance in life, which I refuse to take for granted. I attended a college and raised a beautiful family, all while pursuing my dream. I work hard and live my life by principles of respect, morals and values. Despite being labeled disabled, I chose to drop the stereotype of how we are supposed to be and live as normal as possible! I changed my destiny! I love family time, and in my spare time I do what I love to do best, and that's write, as well as making others feel good. I strongly believe what you put out is what you will receive! Through all the trials and tribulations I've endured, I'm happy to say I'm at peace with the life that I chose to make for myself with the help of a higher power! I'm a young, smart, caring, spiritual, fun, strong, independent woman. Sometimes I can seem tough, but that's just because I'm passionate when it comes to setting goals and achieving them.

About the Book

I fell in love with poetry at a young age. Ever since I was nine, I would write little poems. Wherever my imagination took me, I would go. Some poems were three lines and some poems were three pages, but it was something I enjoyed. My first poem I read was by Shakespeare: Romeo and Juliet. It was at school. It was so beautifully written, and I couldn’t understand how something so tragic could be so uplifting. The feeling was hard to describe, but I knew that’s how I wanted to make others feel. That was power to me: turning a disappointment into something good and inspiring. 2Pac Shakur, Anyte of Tegea (Greek female poet), and Maya Angelou are other poets who influenced me. In my college years while taking theater class I would often study their poems. For example, A Locust and A Cicada, Still I Rise, Caged Bird, The Rose that Grew from the Ground of Concrete, and The Event of My Demise are poems I recited for assignments we had to present in front of the class! Standing there, I knew one day I wanted to be taught in lecture halls in colleges and have the honor of young scholars dissect my mind. My plan is to release my books and become a motivational speaker to all who need a little push because I too know firsthand we all have our days when that motivation is needed! Never give up. It’s up to you to change your destiny. If I can do it, anyone can! Find your purpose and use your platform for the greater good!

I’m also inspired by Oprah Winfrey, Tyler Perry, Cicely Tyson, Angela Bassett, Beyoncé, Ellen DeGeneres, Michelle Obama, Queen Latifah, Master P, Kanye West, Whoopi Goldberg, Debbie Allen, Felicia Rashad, Spike Lee, Robert Townsend, The Wayans Family, Pavier DeRose and myself. Although some names I mention are not poets, they are all inspirational. They stood out and took a stand in what they believe in without worrying about how others would accept them! We have all overcome all the odds that were against us and come out on top. They weren’t afraid to be themselves. They made others like me to be comfortable in our skin and just be ourselves! Not only do they entertain, but they also educate and influence others morally. We are leaders and brave to use the platforms we worked for in pursuit of the greater good! I only pray that I can influence, inspire, recreate, and become a successful legend, icon, and mogul like those who have paved the way and opened the door before me. These icons showed me that hard work pays off in the end. Determination, consistency, and motivation go hand and hand in producing longevity! For example, look at Pac: he’s been gone for decades and is still in the game inspiring us all around the world. His poetry and music are timeless and connect with today’s current events. That’s amazing!

What I want my audience to learn from me is to always be true to yourself and lead the pack! Keep believing and you will achieve! I’ve tried contacting Oprah so many times from when she lived in Chicago. In fact I still have a copy of a letter I wrote her from 2006. I never got through. However, I never gave up! When she announced the end of The Oprah Winfrey Show and moved to L.A., I was devastated. I thought I would never get in contact with her. Many years have passed and I have still never met her, but I am now being given the opportunity to tell my story. I believe she will gravitate towards me through my gift of poetry. I have confidence and the ability to manifest in my mind who and what I can have in my future. That’s life coming full circle! All individuals’ lives are designed to fit you and you only. It is destined. Your dreams, what you feel inside even at a young age, will be yours if you take control and do whatever you can to get there!

I would also like to thank all the families who I was able to contact and who allowed me to use my writings and make this book of poetry. I appreciate all the support!

A special thanks to the spirit of my Grandma Sammie. She was the first Letter from an Angel I wrote for myself 21 years ago. This helped me understand the death of a family member who was so close to me.

Special thanks to the individuals who actually inspired me to write their letter. These public figures and loved ones touched us all. Something about the how and the way they left us made me want to figure out a way to help understand the why, if that makes sense, even though everything is fiction. Allegedly speaking, these letters give me and hopefully the readers peace of mind.

I held on to a lot of these poems for years. One day, one of my best friends said, What good are all those poems doing in your phone or in notebooks? You have to get them in the hands of the people who need them. That one conversation I had not too long ago turned into my mission. I tried to reach as many people as I could and gave them their letters. I realized that the only way to get these letters to the rest to those I was unable to reach was to make a book.

I give the utmost respect, recognition, and honor to 2Pac Shakur, Kadafi, Uncle Frankie, Big Will, Aunti Karen, Paris, Paradise, Andrea, Omarion and Ariaon, Mikey, Aunti Marsha, Noemi Cynthia and Yaslina Vega, Maryline, Raven, Juice, Cool Folks (Miguel), Evelyn, Pretty Akeira, Trino, Tenika, Dejia, Shawn, Myia, Andrea, Maxine, George Floyd and family, Stephanie, Dianne, Mita, Diamond, Otis (Jelly), Breonna Taylor and family, Emmett Till and family, Tamir Rice and family, Trayvon Martin and family, Franja, Renny, Lamia, Aunti Wanda, Kobe Bryant and family, Nipsey and Lauren Hussle and family, Lakizzy Ransom, JW Ransom Jr., JW Ransom Jr. 2nd, Janova Ransom, baby girl, young star, Aries (Ghetto), BB, Lala, Jojo, Boss baby, and all my peeps in Chicago! I hate that tragedy is what made some of us connect but hopefully what I’ve done can put a smile on your face even if it’s only for a second. This will never bring our loved ones back but it will help keep their spirits and names alive. We will never forget.

It was all needed, and it inspired me to keep going. I would like to give a special thanks to my mom and dad, Beverly and Leonard, for creating this young entrepreneur back in the 80s!

Last but not least, I thank God for making me as strong-minded as I am. Without Him, I would be lost. Not only did He make me mentally strong, but He also made me strong physically and spiritually! He carried me through every situation that was built to break the strongest ever. But I never folded. I prayed, believed, kept faith, and applied action no matter what. Lord knows there were times I thought I wouldn’t make it and couldn’t go on any longer, but He had other plans. Even through the miracle of surviving from my car accident, He never left. From a near-death experience, He still made my life better through tragedy. I realize my purpose! My reason for staying is to share my gift to the world 25 years later.

My poetry book not only written to reach the families of the individuals I’ve wrote about but also to pay homage to a dear friend 2Pac Shakur. I would also like to bring awareness to some of the poems I wrote in the section I refer to as Letters from an Angel. A lot of these poems I’ve written the families have no closure because the cases are unsolved. You can hear some audio versions on my IG page lemikasummer96 or YouTube earlylemika. I’ve taken my time with this because I want everything to be done in a positive light representing the late 2Pac Shakur, the victims families and myself. This is important to me. Sharing my gift, my talent, through poetry is something I love to do. My writings allow the world to see another layer of who Lemika Early really is. Yes, I’m Frank Alexander’s niece. Yes, I’m the little girl in ‘96 who 2Pac Shakur took under his wing and did a lot for. But I’m also a mother, a daughter, a sister, a friend, and a poet. I was given this platform because of them. 2Pac started out with writing poetry. With that being said, I feel his 25th anniversary of his transitioning and his 50th birthday should be all about 2Pac. This is why I have chosen this date to release my book. June 16th shall be celebrated through poems! It’s an honor to be able to write and give him something back that I believe and feel he’s proud of me for doing. He loved some of my poems I shared with him. He would often tease me, telling me I should be in the studio, lol. He would tell me to always stay with it. It’s a gift, and I was only going to get better, and eventually I would know what to do with them.

It’s only right giving people what they want to keep his legacy alive the right way. I know my rhyme and reason in life will make a positive impact in the world, and this is what Pac was all about: sparking the brain! (@sparkthebrain ig or fb non-profit organization for Autistic children inspired by Afeni and Tupac Shakur,Kristen Parcus and Vince Bryant) My poems are what I’m pushing because not only do they make me feel good, but they help others. No matter race, gender, rich, or poor, there’s something for everybody to relate to. I’m confident in my work and brand. I know what I have is unique, fresh, and timeless. It’s about loyalty, truth, honesty, and respect with me. I actually think I too can help change the world! My poetry book and upcoming bio mean so much to me. They define character! Me going the hard route and doing it on my own rather than getting a handout or advancement while not allowing others to have control of my hard work will inspire so many. I fell in love with the grind, the hustle, the knowledge, the business, and just the idea of this project coming together from the underdog and hopefully becoming a huge mogul. This is all from a little girl with a dream who worked hard making it come true. This will motivate so many just like me to think outside the box and become who you want to be! You can do it! We all can!

I was in a car accident at the young age of 14 which led me to being in a wheelchair for 25 years. I’ve beat the odds and am blessed to live a good life despite what happened. I’m a single mother of six. I had all my children after being paralyzed. I am the mother of five boys and one girl who are all honor roll students all their lives, by the way. I had them with my high school sweetheart who I left five years ago and never looked back. Strength is who I am! I’m not doing this for just me but to show my children it’s up to you to change your destiny, no matter what your situation is. Give me a chance for you to get to know Lemika! You won’t be disappointed. I know everyone’s waiting for the bio, but that will come following this book. I am releasing my books in this order for a reason; trust your girl! This is not just an opportunity to be successful but also motivational and inspiring not just here in the U.S. but worldwide! Whether you are a Pac fan like myself or just a person who loves to read, I’m ready to take and enjoy this journey together with all who support me! Breakthrough… Mika’s Mind

Man, I got some angels watching over me and I know you one of them, Pac! I have sleepless nights and early mornings but I’m balancing everything with just me. This strength is within an outside force of a higher power grinding, single mom, remote learning of six, and becoming a brand with limited function. Get rich or die trying! Thank you, Pac. Thank you sooo much for everything, even my Uncle Frankie. It’s because of y’all that I have this platform.
