About this ebook

Ive often wondered, and Im sure others have too, what goes through a persons mind when trials and tribulations arise in their life. Im not just talking about the difficult times but the joyful ones too. We ask ourselves questions like, What makes a person stay in an abusive relationship when its so easy to walk away? Why do some people cry after receiving good news? Why is the homeless man smiling while living in a cardboard box? Why did the mother who just buried her murdered child forgive his murderer? These are just some of the questions we ponder. How blessed I am that I get to share some of those stories with you.

Silent Thoughts is just that, the thoughts of a person who may be going through similar situations in their life. Since we dont know their journey, who are we to judge them? I think its best that we simply listen and learn as their situations teach us about life, and while were doing that, who knows, a few secrets may be revealed and save us a little pain or increase the joyful life were already living.

Silent Thoughts is the book youve been waiting for to answer some of those questions. Its the missing piece to your puzzled mind, so let it fill in the blanks and exercise the beliefs you were unsure about. Im sure, when youre finished, a few of your questions will have been answered. So as always, sit back and relax, and let some of our stories do the talking for a while. Enjoy!

Yes, It’s me again, Lorenza “Renzie” Thompson, and this time I agreed with a few friends that it was time I let you in a little deeper and get more personal as I invite you inside my mind and the thought process that occurs when trying to share not just my journey, but our journey together. I’m still the same little shy boy, raised by an angel (Mom) who has been blessed throughout my life and given a gift that is also one of the tools to be used as I share what I believe to be my purpose in life. My writings! It is and has always been my intent and goal to inspire, motivate, encourage, uplift, enlighten, heal and the list goes on. It took me years to realize and understand that what I’ve been given is meant to help others on their journey. Sorry it took so long.

    Dedication

I asked myself, why now, and it’s simply, because I believe I had to get to a certain place and point in my life to be able to understand that the timing is right for what I have to say. When I look back I realize the decision was easy and fitting when it came to dedicating my book to someone and long overdue. I could’ve done it a long time ago but the timing wasn’t right and I wasn’t ready or developed enough to express what I have to say and to whom I’m saying it to. This book is dedicated to my sons Terrell and Terrance. These guys are my everything. My up when I’m down, my strength when I’m weak. Make no mistake, God is the head my life and always will be. I’ve looked up to my sons since their birth. They give me inspiration without knowing. I kept quiet at times as I watched them grow up, not because I wanted to, but because I needed to and they needed me to, whether they knew it or not. It had to be done in order to teach the lessons I and life was teaching them. They didn’t understand some of the reasons why I had to be hard on them as I sometimes was, but they thanked me later with simple words like, Dad I remember when. So I replaced the broken glass memories with memories of laughter and joy every time I kiss them goodnight, which is on a nightly basis whether they’re near or far. I love you guys with all my heart and one day I hope to make you proud of me just as much as I am of you!

    Love Dad!

    ACKNOWLEDGEMENT

As with all acknowledgements, I start with he who makes all things possible, my Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Trying to repay the blessings I’ve been given would take a lifetime, so I’ll keep trying until the next one. I acknowledge my mother as always for being the perfect example of a virtuous woman who walks the righteous path every day of her life and for being the glue that holds our family together. I love you both more than mere words could say. I hope I’ve made you proud of the life I live.

    INTRODUCTION

There comes a time in life when some secrets must be told and some stories must be allowed to unfold, that time is now. The time has come to share with others some of the secret ingredients we used when we were at a milestone in our lives and hopefully they’ll benefit you like they did us. The questions were asked in the past, but the answers were never revealed until now. Here are some of the answers to questions like, what’s the reason for the tears, why did we do it that way; why do we take so much or give so much and get little in return?

The time has come and you’ll see how our scars have become testimonies, how we’ve endured what some will say was hell and live to tell about it. You have a front row seat to the events of a lifetime. Hopefully, your spirit too, will blossom like ours have. As you enter this secret world feel free to add your own story or testimony, but for now, let Silent Thoughts, take you to the far reaches of your imagination while revealing a few Secrets along the way. Enjoy!

    My Thoughts

They take me to majestic places and show me familiar faces; relax me during hard times like the wind blowing chimes.

They dry my tears when I have fears; soothe my body of aches and pains when life seems like a strain.

They lift my spirits when depression sets in, and when I’m about to break, they only let me bend. My Thoughts, what a friend!

They bewilder my mind when my heart decides to talk; groom me for the future when wisdom is sought.

They remind me of yesterday and the love ones that paved my way; calm the savage beast inside me when he has something to say.

They’re often misunderstood; but they’ve lessened my bad and increased my good.

    Believing is Not Just Seeing

No credentials are needed. My heart tells me you’re the real thing. I’m dancing because I get to spend some quality time with you.

I’ve lived my life believing this day would come and not seeing you never changed my attitude towards life because of the love I have for you embedded in my heart.

Having never laid eyes on you simply fueled the fire and desire that burns deep within my soul.

If others are waiting to see you, they’re wasting their time because in order to see this blessing, one has to be blind.

Some think they can figure it out because they have a degree, so they need to be reminded this is something you can’t see.

Faith is all you need and if it’s without doubt, you have enough. Seeing is not believing if you believe in what you can’t see.

    My Words, My Medicine

Correct me not, for the words I say are meant to be a fortress; at time they’re harsh, only to protect me for the inevitable. Fierce in their approach, crossing the lines of an enemy that waits to puncture a hole in the balloon supplying the fuel and energy I need to mount and sustain a counter attack if I’m to survive.

Attack is what I must do and be prepared for whatever I will encounter. Able to withstand the multitude of indifferences I will face at every obstacle that misunderstands their meaning and fears their decisions. I cannot erase what has been etched in their mind.

Waiting to be transformed into a language that will confuse, anger, hurt and fulfill a craving. These are my words, my medicine; the tools I’ve been given for battle.

I let them down sometimes with
