The Scriptures tell us that one of the great missions of the Messiah was to heal the brokenhearted (Luke 4:18 KJV), and that same work continues today through His body. Like He said in His Word, He that believeth on me, the works I do shall he do also (John 14:12 KJV). Patti and Lorance Mosher are continuing the work of the Messiah as they seek to rescue the hurting, to bind up the wounded, and to mend broken hearts. This book will be a great resource for those seeking and those administering that healing balm.

    FOREWORD

Jesus said, He that believeth on me, the works that I do shall he do also; and greater works than these shall he do (John 14:12 KJV). Doing the works of Jesus is the right and privilege of every believer. Unfortunately too few Christians understand their authority to use the name of Jesus to set people free.

In her book Don’t Offence Me In, Patti Mosher shares her knowledge and experience gained throughout her years of ministry to set people free from hurts, offences, and demon activity. If you or someone you know has been prevented from experiencing the freedom of deliverance, the knowledge of the truth will make you free. After reading this book, I pray you will enjoy the abundant life Jesus promised.

    INTRODUCTION

This book is the result of years of ministry to hundreds of people since 1985, healing the brokenhearted, setting the captives free, and healing the sick. It is my desire to see people in the body of Christ healed, free, walking in victory, and doing the works of Jesus so that they can minister these things to others. Without a doubt, Satan does not want the church to know how to be healed, free, walking in victory, and doing the works of Jesus. Once people get ahold of these truths, they will transform their lives, and others’ lives, forever. No one in the world is without hurts and offences. Woe unto the world because of offences! It must needs be that offences come; but woe to that man by whom the offences cometh (Matthew 18:7 KJV). Through the truth of the Word of God, personal experiences, and the testimonies of others, I will show you how to get free of hurts, offences, captivity, and bondage, along with curses, wrong soul ties, sickness, and disease, and how not to give place to these things. The purpose of this book is to help others who, like me, were hurt, abused, imprisoned, and in bondage, to be healed and set free. God loves you unconditionally and wants you free, living in victory, doing the works of Jesus by helping others to get free, and experiencing the blessings of God to the fullest! Now let the journey begin!

    CHAPTER 1

    OFFENCE—WHAT IT IS

To start with, there are two different spellings of the word offence. In the Bible and in Europe, it is spelled with a c: offence. In other parts of the world, it is spelled with an s: offense. In this book, I will use offence with a c since it coincides with the Scriptures we use and with what I believe the Lord revealed to me while I was praying.

An offence is defined as a scandal, a trap stick (a bent sapling), a snare, or an occasion to fall or stumble. A modern meaning of the word offence is something that causes a person to be hurt, angry, or upset. According to this meaning, to be hurt is to be offended. Both being hurt and being offended require forgiveness and healing.

I’ve heard people say that they don’t get offended very easily but that they do get hurt. They realize that being offended is a sin, but they think that being hurt is not a sin because they are the victims, which is a deception and a lie of the Devil. They don’t understand that when they respond to that hurt in a negative way—such as with anger, resentment, revenge, avoidance, depression, etc.— it is sin. And it is very difficult, almost impossible, not to react negatively when you are hurt. However, God has made a way in His Word for us to receive healing from hurts and offences through the biblical healing of hurts.

When I was thinking and praying about a title for this book, I remembered a country-and-western song I heard when I was a child concerning fences. It talked about how as the farmers moved out West, they put up fences to keep the cattle out so the cattle would not destroy their crops. Up to that point, the cattle had free range and could go anywhere they could find pasture. A fence can work for good or evil. In some cases the fence protected the farmer’s crops, but for the cattlemen, the fence kept the cattle from grass and water. After thinking about it and praying about it for a while, I finally came to the conclusion that the perfect title for this book was Don’t Offence Me In!

It is stated in Romans 5:15 that offence as sin started with Adam in the garden, and he is the one man Paul is talking about here: For if many died through one man’s falling away (his lapse, his offence), much more profusely did God’s grace and the free gift [that comes] through the undeserved favor of the one Man Jesus Christ abound and overflow to and for [the benefit of] many. In the case of an offence, it fences you in like a trap, it is a kind of self-protection, and it is self-induced. But it won’t hold, and it keeps God and His blessings out for the most part, because to give place to an offence is to sin or to miss the mark. Offences and hurts also open the door for demonic influence and for sickness and disease.

I have to say that on the other hand, concerning fences, God’s grace is the divine outpouring that will change everything, and we access that grace through faith in Jesus Christ. According to the original Hebrew text, grace is the fence that protects the abundant life that God is giving us. Contrary to offences, grace opens the fence gate for God’s abundant and unlimited blessings for His children!

    Different Types of Offences

The different types of offences are hurts, a broken heart, a broken or wounded spirit, and criticism from another person, which is something that infuriates the moral, physical, spiritual, or emotional senses. These types are all clearly related—like kissing cousins. First, a hurt is a natural, legitimate response to disappointment, rejection, and hurt feelings. Second, a broken heart comes when someone you love, like a spouse or a boyfriend or girlfriend, leaves you, usually for someone else or after he or she says mean and hurtful things to you or about you. A rebellious child who gets into a lot of trouble can break your heart, or a close friend who dumps you or says bad things about you behind your back can do the same. Third, a broken spirit occurs when your spirit, which is the real you, is so abused and beaten down that you become depressed, discouraged, dismayed, unnerved, and overwhelmed—and you give up. A broken spirit can be the result of physical, emotional, mental, verbal, or sexual abuse. Fourth, a criticism is something spoken by another person that infuriates the moral, physical, spiritual, or emotional perception or senses, like when someone is critical of you, of someone you love, or of something you believe.

    How God Made Us

To understand how offences and hurts affect us, we need to know how God made us and that we are made in His image. We are a three-part being (1 Thessalonians 5:23). We are a spirit and we have a soul, which includes the emotions, the will,
