The Gathering Storm

For tonight a storm is approaching

And what shall the morning bring?

The winds will howl and the snow close in

But in the morning what will you sing?

Dig deep for the tempest soon will pass

A moment of time that will not last

In the midnight hour you’ll hear the growl

But keep on in faith don’t throw in the towel

For tonight will soon be here then gone

And you’ll see tomorrow on what the sun has shone

A moment, a minute, an hour or two

Change is coming and riding towards you

My God, my life, my strength, my all

I feel so renewed, redeemed from the fall

You’ve opened up all of your treasures to me

Washed in your sunlight I’m totally free

Come the dark nights of life or death

My security’s sure beyond my last breath

For tonight a storm is thundering towards me

But I’ve already seen what tomorrow shall be.

Faith

Where is the test of true faith?

Only when something great takes place?

Is it not in your daily walk, in what you say and do?

In the principals and values that you adhere to

Faith is love in action

It seeks no other satisfaction

Faith takes hold of what you can’t see

And creates the answer you need it to be

Faith has walked through many a storm

To bring a solution far from the norm

Death is defenseless when faith makes a stand

You can’t kill someone with Christ in hand

Faith is God’s gift, which we all need

Substance and evidence; hope and seed

Faith looks through impossible tasks

Seeking to do, all the Savior asks

More than a friend it’s God Himself

Looking for someone to share His wealth

Faith is a daily commitment to act

To walk in His word, from feeling to fact

Faith brings us more than we could ask for

The God of so much has much more in store

Faith is a power without an end

The God of all faith is a faithful friend.

What Is a Man?

What is the measure of a man?

Is it his ability to follow a plan?

To skillfully fight or take a stand

Or ply his trade with his own hand

Man measures man by what he knows

His outward appearance from head to toes

His walk and his talk even his reason

How he reacts to each different season

As the seasons of life come upon all

Not all look to God and answer His call

A man may be strong and have what looks good

But without God he just can’t do as he should

God’s measure of man is from what He knows

His inward appearance is what really shows

The strength of his heart to follow God

True character tested, not just a façade

Determined acceptance to walk in God’s plan

He’ll still be standing while others ran

Love is his strength and motive of heart

Forgiveness and caring not just a small part

Only God knows what man can become

He gave us a yardstick, just measure the Son

Copy His life and follow His run

Break your finish line tape and see what you’ve won.

One More Day

Is there one more line that I could write?

One more thought in the morning light

If all that we have is one more day

What thoughts would there be and what would we say?

Life has a general purpose in mind

To bring us to God and eternity find

Worldly distractions will make you blind

But God keeps calling, for He is kind

Total commitment is what God does best

He doesn’t give up or even rest

With stretched out love He passed the test

So we could be free and truly blessed

This life is just a moment in time

What God had in mind was a forever shine

To live like He lives and at His home

Being one of a kind around His throne

This is the day that the Lord has made

He’s made each one with which to trade

Total commitment to love without measure

Will last forever in heavenly treasure.

I will do whatever you ask

Knowing twenty fours would be a task

In a garden He prayed but did not stay

His task was a hill and a home far away!

Life is a process of choice and change

A time to direct, a time to exchange

What will your next twenty four bring?

A time to cry or a time to sing?

I will do whatever you ask

Just grant me the strength to finish my task

Take me beyond the strength of myself

Let me see the value of your true wealth

Give me the words and how to say

For you are my life, you are my way

Your task was a hill and a home far away

And you’re coming for me, for I cannot stay.

Clay Pots

The potter throws down the clay on the wheel

And begins to create from an inward feel

Shaping the clay with skilful hands

He has in his mind to follow his plans

Unique and expressive, each one custom made

The master potter knows his trade

When imperfections arise from within

He knows what to keep and what to trim

If the clay could speak what would it say

Why did you choose to make me this way?

Look at the other vessels all around

What I see in them, in me I want found

Of being molded I never tire

But strength is not mine, unless by fire

For each there’s a time to come off the wheel

To change into more of what we feel

Giving and serving, filled and poured out

Made to be used is what it’s all about

No two alike, yet all are the same

Created by love and marked with His name.

Not Me Lord

Though all may leave it won’t be me

I’ll fight to the death, I will not flee!

How we bravely pronounce how things will be

While God declares what He can see

Commitment is more than a lasting thing

It takes the heart to make a true ring,

The grace of God to in darkness sing

And determined faith to remove death’s sting

What we think and say may be hard to do

We need all He has to make it come true

His plan has power, if we only knew

As He faced His cross, so we can too

Intentions and actions sometimes don’t align

But with His help you’ll make it just fine

If you fall short He’ll bring it in line

For He’s always there and just in time

Be quick to adjust an off course shift

The wind of His Spirit will give you a lift

You won’t have to fear of going adrift

Just reach out and take God’s life as a gift.

The Water Walker

The boat was tossed and far from land

Things were not going as was planned

Then a man came walking out of the night

Upon the water, what a sight!

Terror gripped those, till to them He did call

He was the answer to the storm and to all

Stepping into the boat, it was suddenly found

They were at the shore and solid ground

The winds of life sometimes blow hard

We are tossed and damaged or even scarred

But off in the distance a man comes walking

Though the world may stand adrift and scoffing

Stepping into your life you’re suddenly free

And He carries you to where you need to be

Don’t stare at the wind and waves all around

Keep looking for Him, till He is found

The answer of answers is so close to you

He’ll calm your seas and see you through

He’s more then a match for any storm

And walking on water with Him is the norm.

Welcome to the world of start

With each new moment comes direction of heart

Each day displays a brand new slate

The past lets go, new decisions we make

Off in the distance yesterday cries

And tries to impose its visions and lies

Its failures and reasons are out of place

Today is the start of a brand new race

The starter gun sounds and off I go
