About this ebook

I decided on the title ‘windows” because each poem came to me in a quick burst of energy. The way fresh air hits you when you open a window. Each poem is a window into my soul. You get to feel the emotion as I was experiencing it. I hope you can relate to them in some way. Most of them were about people or situations in my life. Some are just ideas from my imagination. I am not a college educated, literary scholar. I’m just a blue collar guy with an over active imagination. When I get an idea, if it is meant to happen, it just flows out of me.

Generally, each poem takes 30 to 60 minutes to compose. Many of them are imperfect.

For the most part, I have left them in their original form. The spiritual section portrays the highs and lows of my spiritual journey. The romance section is either the expression of my feelings for someone I cared for, or the idea of what I desire for myself.

The miscellaneous section is just that. It is a collection of ideas that don’t fit one of the two primary categories.

I hope you enjoy reading them as much as I have enjoyed writing them.

    Chapter 1

    Spiritual

    The Sermon

I set out on a journey

    There’s a mountain I must climb

A man sits on the top of it

    Turning water into wine

    Some people call him Jesus

That He’s the Son of God

    Each day a different lesson

Some are easy, some are hard

    He talks about forgiveness

    Love others as yourself

    The path to finding happiness

Is not through fame and wealth

The people came from miles around

What He said made so much sense

    He crafted all His stories

    With grace and elegance

He made us laugh, He made us cry

How to pray-when things get tough

But most of all, He filled us with

The gift of Gods true love

He said to go and share it

    As you travel distant lands

And bring me with you, to your home

Son of God? Or just a man?

    Remember what I taught you

In your heart, I’ll always be

Don’t be ashamed, to speak my name

You can teach the world to see

    Something’s missing, lost my way

    I pray, but I don’t hear

    What’s the answer? I don’t know

The days have turned to years

God is angry - gives me pain

    His payback for my sins

Took a gamble, placed my bet

But He never lets me win

Not sure why I talk to Him?

It’s clear He’s not my friend

    Sitting, thinking, not a clue

How this nightmare life will end

Filled with fear, can’t do the deed

Block it out with lots of weed

    People like to give advice

Beg me not, to take my life

Don’t want to die, but hate the pain

    Depression rots my soul

Searching for a friend to share

    My empty pot of gold

The one that Zeus had cut from me

Only she can heal my wound

Without her I’m a withered rose

I have no will to bloom

    Temptation of the body

    Is hard to overcome

    To deny my human instinct

    And
