About this ebook

In each of our lives at one time or another, there may have been instances when weve needed the comfort of a loved one or just the reassurance that everything would be alright. Whispers of Faith is a collection of poems written to generate a sense of knowing that no matter what circumstance you may be going through, there is Someone who is able to help you get through it.

These poems touch and explore various aspects of our everyday lives. They not only encourage us to reflect on our spiritual lives, but they encourage us to take a look at the world around us. These poems also challenge us to reflect on the paths we have taken, as well as the path in which we are headed.

Following are excerpts from a few poems contained in this volume:

Whispers

Sometimes I feel lonely, that I just dont belong, And God whispers to me Ill help you be strong.

Sometimes I feel angry when people arent just, And God whispers to me Just where is your trust?

Sometimes when Im feeling that God isnt near, Then He whispers and says Im always right here.

Take A Little Time

My days were dark and troubled, my heart was full of pain, My mind was being told that my works were all in vain.

I struggled for a time, cause I couldnt see the way. I tried things on my own, but I had to stop and pray.

Whenever youre in despair and you cant see the way, Just stop what youre doing and take a little time to pray.

That Sunrise

Ive never seen a sunrise like the one I saw today. It made me see the splendor of Gods majestic array.

There were no words to describe the way it made me feel. There was a sense of humbling, which my spirit had to yield.

If I would ever see God beyond my physical eyes, And see Him with my Spirit, He was there in that sunrise.

Whispers of Faith - Marilyn D. Donahue

    The Hope

    Of Tomorrow

    I Corinthians13:7

    I’ll Get Through

    Once in trouble

    And sick in pain,

    God brought me through

    To praise His name.

    I had no money,

    My bills were due,

    God made a way.

    He brought me through.

    Depressed and tired

    Here on this side,

    God knows our paths,

    He is our Guide.

    No matter what

    My life may view,

    God will be there

    To get me through.

    The Other Side

    On the other side,

    There are no more tears,

    There are no more pains,

    There are no more fears.

    On the other side,

    We will never cry,

    We will never hate,

    We will never die.

    That Sunrise

    I’ve never seen a sunrise

Like the one I saw today,

It made me see the splendor

    Of God’s majestic array.

    The colors of the spectrum

Were no match for that display.

The hues I saw this morning,

Have truly not yet been made.

There were no words to describe

The way it made me feel.

There was a sense of humbling

Which my spirit had to yield.

    The quietness of morning

    Reminded me of my soul;

That God will work within us

When we let Him take control.

If I would ever see God

    Beyond my physical eyes,

And see Him with my spirit,

He was there in that sunrise.

    Of Worlds

Of this world there are snares

That are set for the soul.

Of this world there are cares

That lead us from our goal.

Of this world there are tears

That shows our hurts and pains.

Of this world there are fears

That keeps us from our gains.
