My beloved daughter
.
My life was unmanageable
I gave my life to the God of my understanding
I prayed everyday
I read my devotional everyday
I turned my life over to the care of God everyday
I went to meetings everyday
I listened to what the people said
I did what the people said to do
I hungered for what the winners had in their lives
I wanted what they had:
A life worth living
I felt better about myself
I had friends, which I did not have before
I lived the program of 12 steps
I did a thorough 4th and 5th step
I have a wonderful sponsor
My life is more manageable
God is the navigator of my life today
I love God today
Introduction
Do you long for a relationship with your Higher Power? Do you long to have more peace and serenity in your life? Do you truly desire a closer walk with the Devine One.? Would you like to face everyday with a positive outlook for the day?
Then you have come to the right place. I have put together devotions, meditations for you to read, each and everyday. They will inspire you, convict you, welcome you, boost you, reassure you, and much more.
The devotions, meditation have come from Gods word and placed in recovery words, so you can understand the meaning of them. The 12 Steps originated from the bible. So let us go back to the bible and find recovery.
You will find the peace you have always been looking for. You will find the serenity that you have always been looking for. The Holy Spirit will wash all over you with his white light to cleanse you and prepare you for Gods word.
As you continue to read the daily devotions, medications, you will find comfort in knowing that God is with you everyday. He never leaves your side. Even if you are having a really bad day, he is still with you, helping you through that hard day. He never leaves you. Always remember that. That should be a comfort to you. Never leaves you.
Wow! I love that. That alone would get me through a day.
I remember the show, Touch by an Angel.
They were having a very hard day. Everything that could go wrong did go wrong. I remember, Monica, the angel, going outside and sitting on a statue of a horse. She prayed to God. She said, Lord this has been a really rotten day. Nevertheless, I want to thank you for the day. You got us through the day. We are still alive, we had food to eat, and we are together to weather the storm. I do pray for a better day tomorrow. But thank you for today.
That touched my heart. I mean everything went wrong for the town’s people that day. Nevertheless, Monica prayed a prayer of thanksgiving. Could you have done that?
A New Year
Starting a new year is a good time to do a 4th and 5th step. It can be a New Year’s resolution of getting rid of the old and bringing in the new. However, we have to realize that we have had these defects for a long time. It will be hard to let them go.
We will have to grieve over the loss of these liabilities. It is like a death process. It won’t be easy. However, we will be working on replacing the old ways with new ways. It will be an ongoing process. Talk it through thoroughly with the person you are sharing the 5th step with at the time.
It will be a rewarding experience for you and the other person. After giving your fifth step, burn the writings. As the smoke goes up in the air, so does all the pain of the past.
Acceptance
Acceptance is the answer to all our problems. We cannot change people, places, or things. We have always thought we could and have tried in many directions to change people, places and things around us. We wanted to have them as our puppets and have them all played the way we wanted them to.
However, it never worked out that way. We found out that the secret was we could not. We had to take life on life’s terms whether we liked it or not. The one thing we could change is ourselves and our attitude towards people places, and things.
Nothing, absolutely nothing happens in Gods world by mistake, until we accepted our dual disorders, we could not stay sane and sober, unless we accepted life completely on life’s terms. I couldn’t be happy. I needed to concentrate not so much on what reeds to be changed in the world as on what needs to be changed in me and in my attitudes.
When I first got sick, my family was in the dark to what was happening to me. They would get mad at me. They would tell me to straighten up
. They would ask me what is a wrong with you?
They would threaten me. They did not know that I I didn’t even have the answers for them. I didn’t even know what was going on with me. I didn’t know that I had
