Poetic Praise on Bended Knees is a compilation of inspirational poems that acknowledge the goodness of God and the blessings that he has bestowed upon mankind. Through these poems, praise and thanksgivings are offered for the opportunity that we have to humbly and directly connect to God through prayer. Then, when there are circumstances in our lives that lead us to prayer, we know that there is someone who will be there to hear us and answer.

My hope and prayer in writing this book is that each reader will glean something from these poems, which will touch their heart and allow them to look at this earthly life from a spiritual perspective. Because we know that once weve taken our last breath, it will then be too late to make any changes or pray any prayers.

Marilyn D. Donahue

Marilyn, as a young child, has always performed in plays and programs for school and church. She has been writing poetry since Junior high school. Growing up in church, her life experiences, travel and creativity have become the foundation for her Inspirational writings. Some of her works are published in several national Anthologies. Spirit

On Bended Knees

On bended knees, I’m humbled,

My mind is quiet and still,

A moment in your presence,

Meekly yielding to your will.

My thoughts turn to your mercy

And my prayers, to your grace;

Acknowledging the sacrifice

That was made to take my place,

And pay the debt that I owed

For the price of all my sin,

Had it not been for your love,

My heart would still be stained within.

On bended knees, submission

Overwhelms my willful mind

And helps me understand that,

I must leave all my cares behind;

’Cause I have not the power,

Nor the strength with which to stand

Against a foe of spirit,

He who yields at God’s command.

God told me I could trust Him

And to lay my burdens down,

That He would fight my battles

When my enemies abound.

On bended knees, I’m thankful

And that feeling calms my mind,

I’m thankful He has touched me

And allowed my soul to find;
