About this ebook

Hiding Isnt Forever is about a sixth-grade girl named Katy Rivera, who gets bullied at school. She doesnt confront her abuser; instead, she ditches school to avoid the embarrassment. Nor does she tell her parents or anyone of authority. Instead of Katy finding out the reason shes the one whos getting bullied, she ignores it, and one lie comes after another. Katy now becomes an expert in lying, but she doesnt stop. Lying has become such an easy obstacle for Katy that she realizes at one point its the easy way outbetraying everyone who ever trusted her and loved her.

Katy does feel bad, but its not them whos getting bullied, and no one can relate to the torture that she endures coming from her classmates. She tells her friends, Lacy and Jassmyn. After being told to confront her teacher and her parents, she shuts down the only two best friends that she has.

All the lying stops after Mrs. Rivera (Katys mother) bumps into Ms. Nellie while shopping. Ms. Nellie informs Mrs. Rivera of Katys continuous absences from school. At this point, Katy has no choice but to confront her abuser.

As a woman in my early 30's i've come to realize that there's alot of things that i have no control over, but if i can make a difference in someone's life then i am grateful to bring change to that person. I love all human race. Everyone needs help or advice at some point. I am that person that believe if ther's a will, there's a way. I love writing. It's my hobby, my stress reliever. Anytime something goes wrong, i would write and my mind would just be flowing with all type of ideas. I write to encourage others to beat their past, to live their present and to plan for their future. I've always believed that one set of eyes were never enough to see clearly, beyond the drama and through the blur.

A special thanks to my five figures—Traivon, Colleena, Marquate, Astronjai, and Michael—and also to my little cousin Davontai Sanders. If it wasn’t for you all, I don’t think I would’ve tried this hard to get to this point in my life. I love you guys so much.

Katy, get up for school, Katy’s mother, Mrs. Rivera, yelled at the top of the staircase. She then continued preparing breakfast. Ten minutes later she went to check on Katy. Katy, why aren’t you up getting ready for school? she asked.

Mom, I’m not feeling well. I’ve been up all night. Can I please stay home?

Okay, just this once, but if you’re still not feeling well by the end of the day, I’ll have Dr. Verma take a look at you.

    Thanks, Mom, Katy replied.

Oh, and your breakfast will be on top of the stove, waiting whenever you’re ready. Mrs. Rivera walked out of the room, leaving Katy to herself.

Thank God she’s gone. Katy didn’t want to go to school. She also didn’t want to stay home either, but she knew if she ask her mom about going to the mall or to get ice cream, she’ll know Katy was lying about feeling ill.

Katy didn’t want to disappoint her mother, even though she had already done so. "This is ludicrous, there’s nothing to do and nowhere to go. I guess I’ll watch Zack and Cody after I eat first."

Katy went downstairs to the kitchen to retrieve her plate off the stove. Once finished, she headed toward her bedroom. On the way, passing her mother’s office, she was stopped and caught off guard by her mother asking her if she had felt any better than she did two hours ago.

I think I may have a stomach virus or either the flu, said Katy.

I sure hope not, I have to work tomorrow, and I can’t afford taking an unpaid day off.

Well, I can always go to Grandma’s house, until you get off.

    I’ll see, said her mother.

Katy walked back to her room, glad to get the conversation between her and her mother was now over with. I wonder if she knows about me, Katy said to herself. If her mother hadn’t already suspected it, Katy was going to milk
