A Woman of Distinction - Gladys L. Alexander

    Chapter I

    The Rise of Women

For billions of years, women have been searching for their place in this world. They have been searching for a place in family, in relationships, in the religious world, and in the business world. From as far back as the beginning of time when Eve ate of the fruit, the struggle for her rightful place began. After the curse of the fall, our curse was male having control over us. Yes, I am the first to admit it was our fault for being so inquisitive and failing to remain an equal to our companion. And we allowed ourselves to be misguided by evil and disobedience. After the curse of the fall of mankind, male domination caused some of us to decrease in standards. We became slaves in emotions, in the home, in the body, and in the mind. And almost never an equal to our mate the male. We can be their wives, daughters, mothers, girlfriends, and their mistresses but never allowed to be an equal. In our action to be noticed, we became showpieces. Exposing ourselves to get attention. But in spite of it all, we still have come a long way since the beginning. Our journey brought us from exposing to business executors, mayors, queens, and soon-to-be president. In the twenty-first century, the woman is not only beautiful but also smart.

She can manage a business and raise a family at the same time.

Let’s explore the life of the woman from which we came Eve the mother of earth. Eve was a beautiful and intelligent woman. She allowed herself to be tempted by Satan. He tempted her with the same desire he had been tempted with and that was to be equal with God. The word he used was, You will be like God (Gen. 3:5).

There are still lessons to learn from this encounter even today. Satan’s lies and entrapments are the same. He still uses the lust of the flesh, the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life to destroy God’s creatures. Eve, the Woman of Distinction, was built this mean—she was formed with wonderful physique or bodily contours (slim girl). She is a gift from God. (Gen. 2:22-25, 3:20)

The name Eve means life. Ladies, that’s what we are about—life—and life was created for living. Now is your time to live. Eve was known by other names. She was given the name woman and her husband, Adam. (Male and female God created he them and God called them Adam (Gen. 5:2) this means they was an insoluble unity created by God and made one flesh. Eve lets us know that a woman can be first in anything she sets her mind, body and soul to be. She was the first to be refined from dust that was already refined. The first perfect woman, she was the first to give birth to children.

The first wife, the first lady of the world, the first and only

Woman born without sin was to lead us into sin. This sin was not in the transgression at this time, which was the sin of speculation but in the will to own or be like the divine power God. Eve was the first seamstress (Gen. 3:7). The first to have a child of disappointment and the first to receive the message of the cross. Eve has been classified as the prime example of the weakness in woman. (Because she allowed the serpent to trick her into disobedience. By this mistake, the male person feels woman should keep silent in the church and it appears everywhere else. But there is no person that can hinder the. We were born to rise, rise above the dark forces of time and become the light of the world. Our hearts can be broken but never our spirits. The world can only distinguish our light if we allow it.

Let’s take it a step farther and look at our New Eve, Mary the mother of Jesus. She gave renewed life to those that desire to rise. In the fifth and through the eighteenth century we rose step by step in freedom of rights, the freedom to vote and universal education. In the rise, we lost some footage in the greatest force of all, love. And we tried to gain precious places in life without it and failed. We removed God from our lives and lost our morals though the ages of time. Now the woman has been labeled in society as decayed. We have all been stereotyped as immoral, making it more difficult for us to live a godly life. Nobody wants to give honor where honor is due. In the twentieth and twenty-first century, women were as scared as men as seen through their decline of character. We are not all money hungry, crazy or manipulative and we have fought hard through the years to prove it. Some have lost their lives in the process to rise above the hurt and name calling in the biblical world as well as in the secular world. Freedom is something women are willing to fight for, because it gives us strength through the centuries to keep ourselves unspotted from evil forces. Women are proud people; we were built to rise from the stain of mud. We are dust which can’ be contaminated by mud. You tell me, can mud touch dust and damage it?

    Chapter II

    You Can’t Stop Me!

In Old Testament time, the Israelite law was written to protect woman according to Deuteronomy 22:13, 28, and 21:10-14. She had respect, above her secular sister. In 1000 B.C., if the chastity of a woman was violated, it was punishable by death.

Now in this age you are not protected and you are made to feel ashamed if you report you have been violated. In spite the traditions of life, woman never stopped caring for other people in need. The woman of the past tamed the land with love and hard labor.

She was treated as property of her husband. Nevertheless, they thought themselves happy. In the New Testament times, woman received a higher standard equal to the level of the male through Jesus Christ. At this time, the church began to believe the scripture (Gal. 3:28). And woman was viewed in the way Jesus viewed everyone. There was neither male nor female in Christ Jesus. Yes, man rules the ancient world, but Christianity freed womanhood. Christ and his truth form a path through the ages of time for the woman. No circumstances could hinder her from reaching her goals. They are determined to deal with trials, aching bodies, anger and manipulation placed on them by society to walk the path Jesus open for them. Whether you are saved or unsaved, a path is there for you to follow, so listen to your heart. We are called the weaker sex, and that is fine as long as you know your strength came from God. Through the hard times, we never realized God was in our lives. It appeared God and everybody else was against us. Now we understand the scripture. When God is for you, you have nothing to fear even if the world is against you." This is why we can’t stop now. Trials of life are difficult but if we are patient, we find that those trials bring fresh appreciation and anoint goals in life.

You can’t stop now; you are a poet with an unwritten poem. A singer with an unsung song, a friend yet to be loved, a mother waiting to give birth and a need to be met. Sisters, there are so much to be done with your beautiful lives. No matter what it looks like to the eyes, heart, or mind, there is still much yet to be accomplished. God has no respect of persons and he still has a divine plan for each of us. Woman is a special gift to mankind; she is the nurturing side of God. God places her in the home and the workplaces to love and cultivate, not to be abuse or unloved. Man can’t stop the mighty move of God. The race wasn’t given to the swift nor to the strong but to the ones who endure until the end. Women of distinction don’t be doubtful in mind or unstable in your ways. But keep in your heart the need to be free by the freedom that’s in your mind. As long as your mind is free, you are free. Remember that a woman that stands on the promises of God has no worry. In the scriptures are good examples of women who went through the same problems we face. Abigail lived in an unhappy home and she remembered the love of God. Anna lost her husband but she was not lonely for she remembered God’s love. Dorcus was well known in society for her good deeds; she stood on the promises knowing that her rewards for her good deeds would come from God. Esther, called the Star was the star of hope, the star of joy, the star of superiority. She was a woman of clear judgment, a woman of magnificent self-control and was capable of the noblest sacrifice. So convicted by her standards she said, "If I perish, let me perish. Woman of the millennium, when the world seem to swallow you
