INTRODUCTION OF WOMAN
THERE ARE SO MANY FACETS to women today. No longer are we just prized possessions, helpmeets, housewives and mothers. We’ve been able to break out of this box and accomplish more on a larger scale. What do I mean? At home, we train our children; plan and cook meals; keep daily-monthly-yearly schedules and calendars; schedule weekly-monthly-yearly travel events; create budgets. We clean the house and keep an inventory of what everyone’s needs are and manage them all. Nowadays, we are also teachers outside the home; CEOs managing hundred and million-dollar budgets; secretaries; chefs and much more!
We are doing it, Women! We are certainly forces to be reckoned with, right? So many of us are excitedly enjoying all of our accomplishments, living our best lives... but there are days when it is still not enough. We do all we can, yet our marriages and relationships are still falling apart. We encourage and push everyone to be all that they can, only to be abandoned, rejected, cast out and seemingly left for dead. Women, we are not any of those things.
I hear you asking: If I am not, then why do I feel this way? It is because we have lost sight of why God created mankind, and THE PROMISE of why we were extracted and presented as a helpmeet (gift) to Man. I pray as you read the journey of mankind into womanhood, that a light comes on which causes you to Stop, Reflect, Study, and Release the weights of this world. You can walk in the liberty of our Lord like never before. When you’ve done all you can and feel like there is no end in sight, what do you do? To answer this, we must go back to the beginning of time. To Genesis.
Genesis, the first book in the Bible, is reported to have been written by Moses and teaches us how God created Woman. It tells of His love for His creation, even to the point of correction (the Fall). Let’s look into our Genesis. In Greek, Genesis (ghen'-es-is) (G 1078) ¹ means birth, genealogy, the course of one’s life. The spoken Word of God aligns everything on earth to come into agreement and become exactly what God defined at the beginning of time; including the creation of mankind from the beginning of time until now.
Woman received her name because God extracted her from Man. God uniquely created us to help. Universally, Woman is defined in The Etymology Dictionary as an adult human being who is distinguished, a nurturer, wife, mistress, child-bearer, and server
. ² Unfortunately, society has redefined Woman. Making us less than what God ordained for us to BE when, truthfully, Woman makes humanity possible through Christ Jesus. We give birth through much pain and come out with a beautiful child, holding it all together in more ways than we could have imagined. Even in our pain, we find a way to be graceful, kind, soft, mild-tempered, strong, and much more.
The women in my life have diverse personalities, but their one prevalent characteristic is strength. They are clear about who they are, and the journey they have walked and continue to walk. Why do I call them strong? Strong means able to withstand great force or pressure
. ³ I’ve seen women in my family truly live through some things in their lives. Which enabled me to stand during the Lord have mercy hard times in my life. The ability to smile when you want to cry is strength in adversity. The ability to be steadfast through incest, rape, adultery, loss of a marriage, loss of loved ones, jobs, etc., is a pressure like no other.
My family of women have endured all or some of the above-mentioned, and still remained pillars of strength for the generations after them. These women taught my generation not only how to love Him, but also how to be strongly independent and submitted to God. I was further instructed submitting to God meant holding fast in my submission, even when things got hard. What I learned most growing up is that people take in more from what they see, not what they are told.
In marriage, there are some trying days. The generation before mine sacrificed and went through a lot in life, being submitted women of God to their husbands. Some dreamed of teaching, becoming doctors, nurses and many other professions. Their husbands only wanted them to be housewives, which wasn’t a bad thing. These women would say to us, Take your time! Don’t get married until your career is solid. Then have a family.
This was funny to me because these same women (who raised us to be wives that met the needs of a husband) were telling us to hold off on marriage. So we could build a successful career and not totally depend on a
