Can you tell us a little about yourself?
I am an executive and personal coach, a professional speaker and an author. I am the mother of two teenagers—one son and one non-binary person—and I’m married to a man. I’m also an aspirational flower farmer.
What led to you becoming a coach?
I’ve had many careers. I worked as a chef for nearly fifteen years, I was an actor for seven years and I tried working in yoga. When I came to Australia from the UK, I started working in the whole-food space. I ran classes from my home, mainly attended by women, focused on adding more live food to your life, so you were fuelled to do what you wanted. I made it very clear that it was not about weight, dress size or anti-ageing. And yet, at some point, I would have half of the women saying things like, “What has more calories—cucumber or celery?”
At first, I found it funny. Then it made me really angry because I realised women were being told to value their worth by their weight. Having that as a dominant narrative is such a waste. So, I moved out of that food space and started to create spaces for women to work out who they are, not how much they weigh.
