Introduction
What’s up with Mr. Peeples?
questioned Markie.
Why do you ask?
asked Alan back.
Well, he hissed at me when I came in the house just now! He usually rubs my leg and wants me to pet him.
Markie sounded concerned. He’s just acting weird, I guess,
noted Markie.
Really! Wow, that does sound like strange behavior for Mr. Peeples,
responded Alan.
But, maybe, he was just caught off guard when you came in or something,
explained Alan.
Yeah, maybe you’re right. I could have scared him,
Markie said.
I’ll have a talk with him, later,
replied Alan.
You talk to your cat, dude?
questioned Markie.
Yeah, sort of. Why?
responded Alan.
I guess there’s nothing wrong with that,
Markie assured him. It’s just I can’t imagine him understanding you, that’s all, but Mr. Peeples is different,
he continued. He probably does listen to you,
Markie added. So, what’s on the agenda of things to do, today?
Markie asked.
Well, Dad and I are going to put new bolt locks on all the doors.
answered Alan. Mom’s been scared of a break-in ever since old Mrs. Miller’s house was broken into,
explained Alan.
Yeah, I heard she was robbed!
exclaimed Markie. Bad situation, dude,
continued Markie. Well, will you be able to play soccer with us this afternoon at the park?
Markie asked.
Probably not, it will take all afternoon to put the locks on,
Alan replied.
Okay, I guess I’ll see you tomorrow! Catch you later!
he finished as he made his way out the door.
Yeah, later!
yelled Alan.
Mr. Peeples meowed from the corner. Meow!
he roared and jumped on the bed with Alan. Alan instinctively reached to pet him when he heard, Not so fast, buddy!
sounded Mr. Peeples, the apparently talking cat.
Alan had been serious when he said he would have a talk with Mr. Peeples. Little did Markie know his secret about Mr. Peeples—the talking cat! Actually, Mr. Peeples, the alien cat.
It was a long story of how he had found Mr. Peeples scavenging in the park or so it seemed. Here’s the run-down. To make a long story short—Mr. Peeples spaceship landed in the park where he was to study human leisure behavior and activities. After leaving the space ship to do the groundwork, a police car appeared out of nowhere with its lights on and needless to say, his spaceship took off without him leaving him behind. It was the next day when Alan and his friends were playing soccer in the park that Mr. Peeples was hungry and decided to follow Alan home. After sitting on Alan’s doorstep and meowing for a while, Alan’s mother opened the door and took him in because he was such an adorable cat. Needless to say,
