About this ebook

Marie-Jose Losier or MJ was born in Canada and has been involved in competitive sports since her early years. As a teenager, she ran track against the boys to improve her times (and theirs) and spent her summers on the golf course winning many regional golf tournaments.

Marie-Jose's passion for an active and healthy lifestyle led her to a degree in Nutrition at Moncton University in Canada. She then earned a Certificate in Education to enable her to share her knowledge with teenagers, (her favorite audience) by teaching health subjects in High Schools. She then worked several years for the International Pharmaceutical/Nutritional Company, Wyeth-Ayerst Inc., educating healthcare providers about various nutritional products.

During those years, she continued her involvement in various sports, and for a period of eight years MJ became involved in Competitive Bodybuilding which saw her win both regional and provincial competitions in her weight division. She continued her pursuit of Bodybuilding, ultimately competing in the Canadian Bodybuilding Championship and finishing in the top five. This led to multiple appearances in major fitness magazines. Marie-Jose then joined the dynamic international nutraceutical company, Ocean Nutrition Canada Ltd., where she worked in many different fields, helping in the development of new innovative health products for companies such as Kraft, Kellogg, Archer Daniel Midland, Amway and Hills Pet Nutrition. During those years her passion for golf resurfaced, she polished her game to the point that she was able to compete at the Canadian Golf Championship.

As a pianist and ardent lover of music, Marie-Jose studied "The future of Music and Web Designing for Musicians" with Berklee College of Music in Boston, Massachusetts.

MJ's diverse experiences over the years both in nutrition and competitive sports has positioned her to share her knowledge of healthy living with all those who yearn for a healthier lifestyle. It is her utmost desire to equip all those who desire a better lifestyle by sharing "I Didn't Know That, 101 Q&A To A Healthier Lifestyle", so that they too can live a long and healthy life.

There are a few people I would like to thank for making this book a reality. I want to thank the love of my life and my best friend, Lenworth N. Brown, for believing in my ability to deliver my knowledge and supporting me in this Journey. This book would have never taken shape without his vision and his support. A big thank you to my children– Pascale and Matthew – I love you dearly. I would like to thank my friend Martha Ross for taking the time to proof read and make corrections to bring this book to a comprehensive read and finally I would also like to say a special thank you to my friend Jeannette McDermott, B. Foreword

This book is specifically for your age group!

The information found in this book is for educational purposes and is in no way intended to replace professional health care. There are so many different diets, contradicting views and a serious lack of practical and clear steps to achieving a healthy body. All these books grace the shelves of bookstores and websites but none specifically touches on your needs and interests as a teenager/young adult. In developed countries there are more overweight people than underweight and healthy weight people. What does this mean? Over 29 million preventable deaths due to lifestyle diseases are in existence and YOU as a young person can change these statistics.

If all you want is to see the needle go down on your scale then there is the starvation diet, the cabbage soup diet, the 7 bananas a day diet, etc. which are all potentially very dangerous in the long term and may lead to serious health issues. With these diets you will most likely see the needle on your scale going right back up as soon as the diet is over.

Reading my book will give you a practical approach to healthy eating by answering 101 questions on general nutrition and health. The answers are specific for your age group and have been written in a simple way to help you understand the basic mechanisms of your body and how they respond to the foods you eat.

Congratulations! You are about to embark on an amazing journey to a healthier you.
