Turning the Pages of Life…: An Assortment of Poems
Author

Sandy Carouth

I like writing poetry as an outlet---a way to vent, writing about real-life events, and also to commemorate my family’s special occasions. Readers can connect with the poems, though, as most everyone goes through heartache and disappointment in life, as well as experiencing the happiest of times: birthday celebrations, graduations, finding their soulmate, marrying, and having children and grandchildren. I reside in Houston, Texas, where I am a certified group fitness instructor for the YMCA, helping others get physically fit and challenging them to become better and stronger so they can live more healthy, productive lives. My hobbies include writing poetry, dancing, sewing, and listening to music.

    A special thank you to all of my family and dear friends

    for encouraging me to put my thoughts on paper;

    whose very lives have been an inspiration for my writing,

    and who are revealed in the pages of this book.

    My hope is that these poems will be

    a source of comfort and encouragement

    as you walk through the seasons of your life.

    Every effort has been made to secure permission of use from the authors of the quotes and additional poems used in this book; some have been unsuccessful.

    My Testimony

    I am your child; that I chose to be.

    Yet, I did not choose you, but you chose me.

    Even though you let me wander,

    And live a life care-free.

    For many years I did not know

    Your perfect plan I’d see.

    You spared me from many a woe,

    As to all the wrong places I’d go.

    Searching for what was missing in life;

    Only adding to my strife.

    When you came to me in a dream,

    I thought of a master scheme,

    To get loved ones back in church

    To hear of your
