    Foreword

Many years ago I discovered my love for poetry. When I was in fourth grade, in an eight grade parochial school, I collaborated with some of my classmates on our first book. I think we each contributed a handful of poetry – maybe five or six each. The end result was put into booklet form by one of the parents who had access to the right equipment. We then sold copies to anyone in our church who could afford our price – I think it was about a dollar each! We raised about $65 for our school and learned some valuable lessons. I wish I still had my copy of that book, but like many things from a far distant childhood, it is gone.

That book may be gone, but the lessons I learned were not lost. From that point on I wrote poetry whenever inspiration would strike. I wrote my thoughts down and at the bottom of each page I would write my full name and the date and time. I wanted to preserve those moments in time. The result has been that I have binders filled with poetry and memories...but until now there has not been that final realization of publishing a book.

Every time I started to get serious about being published, my sensible husband would ask me "Why would you want to spend good money to publish a book that probably has no market potential? - Poetry? Nobody reads poetry anymore." I always ended up waiting for a lower cost and an easier way to get the job done, and now it has finally happened. (Thank you Lulu.com)!

To be honest, I don't know whether poetry is still popular, or if what I have to say will speak to any hearts. I do know it speaks to mine. So I have to put it out there for my own edification. I sincerely hope anyone who reads it will be blessed, just as the act of writing it has blessed me.
