My Poetry Thoughts of Life, Love and Dreams
()
About this ebook
ABOUT LIFE, LOVE AND DREAMS OF MINE OVER THE PAST 35
YEARS. I STARTED WRITING JUST OUT OF HIGH SCHOOL AND
CONTINUED TO THIS VERY DAY. THE POEMS OF LOVE WERE WRITTEN FOR MY WIFE SHELLY DURING OUR COURTSHIP FOR THE PAST 5 YEARS CULMINATING IN OUR WEDDING ON SEPTEMBER 13, 2008. I LOVE TO
SEE THE REACTION OF PEOPLES FACES WHEN THEY READ MY POEMS.
IF IT MAKES THEM LAUGH, SMILE, CRY OR BRING BACK A MEMORY
IT MAKES ME FEEL GOOD. I HOPE WHEN YOU READ THESE, THOSE
THINGS WILL HAPPEN TO YOU.

DEDICATION PAGE
THIS BOOK IS DEDICATED TO THE TWO LOVES OF MY LIFE, MY LOVELY DAUGHTER KAITLIN ELIZABETH AND MY BEAUTIFUL WIFE SHELLEY WHO, WITHOUT HER BELIEFS IN MY WRITINGS, THIS BOOK OF POEMS WOULD HAVE NEVER BEEN WRITTEN.
Joanne
IT WAS A SATURDAY, DURING MY NINTH GRADE IN SCHOOL,
WAS I GOING TO THE DANCE, OR WITH FRIENDS PLAYING POOL?
I DECIDED TO GO TO THE DANCE
TO JUST LISTEN AND HANG AROUND,
WHAT WAS TO HAPPEN LATER, WAS A MUCH LOUDER SOUND.
MANY YEARS AGO, I MET THIS YOUNG GIRL AT A DANCE,
WHEN OUR EYES MET, WE FELL INTO A TRANCE,
HER NAME WAS JOANNE,
SHE HAD LONG BROWN HAIR AND A BEAUTIFUL TAN.
I DANCED EVERY DANCE WITH HER THAT NIGHT,
AND WE WERE NEVER OUT OF EACH OTHERS SIGHT,
WE KNEW WE WOULD SEE EACH OTHER AGAIN
ON MONDAY MORNING,
I KNEW IT WOULD BE A NEW DAY DAWNING.
THAT DAY IN SCHOOL, I SAW HER IN THE HALL,
I WAS IN HOMEROOM, AND SHE CAME OVER AND SAID HI PAUL
,
SCHOOL WAS OUT AND WE HAD TO GET THE BUS AND GET READY,
WE REALLY LIKED EACH OTHER, SO I ASKED HER TO GO STEADY.
I THOUGHT OUR RELATIONSHIP WOULD GO ON
FOR QUITE A WHILE,
I COULDN’T WAIT TO CALL HER ON THE PHONE
THAT I WOULD DIAL,
SHE SAID YES! AND WE WERE TOGETHER
FOR HALF THE SCHOOL YEAR,
ONE NIGHT I CALLED AND SHE HAD MOVED AWAY,
I WAS IN TEARS.
WAS IT SOMETHING I SAID OR DID THAT MADE HER GO AWAY?
I FOUND OUT HER DAD WAS TRANSFERRED THE PREVIOUS DAY,
HER GIRLFRIEND TOLD ME THAT SHE FOUND IT
HARD TO SAY GOODBYE,
AND IF SHE HAD CALLED ME, ALL SHE WOULD
HAVE DONE WAS CRIED.
THERE WAS THIS EMPTY FEELING IN MY HEART,
I COULDN’T EXPLAIN,
SHE WOULD NEVER KNOW THAT I WAS IN SO MUCH PAIN,
WHEN I FINALLY PUT ALLTHE PIECES TOGETHER, IT FIT,
I QUESS THAT’S THE WAY SHE HAD WANTED IT.
89877-GREE-layout-low.pdfA Smile From Me
A SMILE FROM ME CAN MAKE THE BLUES GO AWAY,
A SMILE FROM ME MAY BRIGHTEN YOUR DAY,
A SMILE FROM ME TELLS ME I’M WITH YOU,
A SMILE FROM ME TURNS GREY SKIES BLUE.
A SMILE FROM ME CAN BE SOME GREAT MEDICINE,
A SMILE FROM ME COMES FROM YOUR LOVELY GRIN,
A SMILE FROM ME MEANS MY HEART IS IN TUNE,
A SMILE FROM ME COMES WHEN I SEE YOUR FACE IN THE MOON.
A SMILE FROM ME IS WRITING THIS POEM FOR YOU,
A SMILE FROM ME ABLES ME TO CONTINUE THIS POEM LIKE I DO,
A SMILE FROM ME TELLS ME YOU ENJOY MY COMPANY AS WELL,
A SMILE FROM ME WHEN IT’S YOUR PERFUME I SMELL.
A SMILE FROM ME IS WHEN YOU LOOK MY WAY,
A SMILE FROM ME IS WHEN YOU MAKE MY DAY,
A SMILE FROM ME IS WHEN YOU KISS ME ON THE CHEEK,
A SMILE FROM ME IS WHEN I SEE YOU SEVEN DAYS A WEEK.
A SMILE FROM ME IS WHEN YOU’RE STANDING NEXT TO ME,
A SMILE FROM ME COMES WHEN I SEE YOUR PRETTY KNEE,
A SMILE FROM ME COMES WHEN YOU TOUCH MY SHOULDER,
A SMILE FROM ME ALWAYS MAKES YOU LESS COLDER.
A SMILE FROM ME CAN MEAN SO MANY DIFFERENT THINGS,
I HAVE TRIED TO EXPLAIN IT TO YOU, I HAVEN’T MISSED A THING,
SO, YOU MUST SEE THAT MY SMILE TO YOU SAYS A LOT,
I SURE HOPE THAT’S WHAT YOU THOUGHT.
89877-GREE-layout-low.pdfMy First Date
SATURDAY NIGHT CAME AND IT WAS MY FIRST DATE,
I PICKED HER UP AT SEVEN THIRTY, I DIDN’T WANT TO BE LATE,
I ARRIVED EARLY, IN MY STOMACH BUTTERFLIES FLEW,
WALKING UP THE STEPS, I RANG THE BELL, WHAT DID I DO?
I THEN KNOCKED AND SHE OPENED THE DOOR,
SHE
