The poems are about love, life and relationships as the author, now in the golden years of her life, traveled and lived through the years to the place she finds herself today. She keeps busy with volunteer work, as well as friends and family activities.
Anna Belle Shepard
In the twilight of her life, the author, Anna Maitland Shepard, is sharing reflections, thoughts and musings in poetry. She lived a childhood during the Great Depression of the 1930's. She lived on a farm surrounded by a family including father, mother and six siblings (three brothers and three sisters) Her education was attending a one room schoolhouse through the eighth grade. Following completion of the eighth grade she would go on to complete grades eight through twelve in the small town high school near her home. Following her graduation from high school, Anna moved to a large city eighty miles from her childhood home. There she obtained employment with a large company for which she would remain employed for the next forty years. This period of time included marriage, two children, and location moves to two other cities, still with the same company. She and her husband reared a son and daughter. Her son is surviving as well as two grandchildren and two great grandchildren. Her first husband and father of her children predeceased Anna. Anna subsequently remarried and after fourteen years, her second husband is also deceased. She is spending this latest chapter of her life alone in an apartment, with lots of time to reflect on special thoughts and events of her life. She currently resides in Saginaw, Michigan.
