About this ebook

Sharing the goodness of God through her writing, author Roberta Heck has compiled a fourth volume of personal poetry with a faith-based focus. Changes of the Mind shares the author's trials and tribulations and inspirational thoughts on a variety of topics- love, family, friendships, relationships, holidays, and God.

Changes of the Mind led to the trilogy, which are Heck's first three books: After the Storm Is Over, The Dawn of a New Day, and One with God. This new volume, with more than one hundred poems, entails the beginning and end of her storm. These offerings are her moment of clarity and her witness to her personal storm and the not-so-pleasant aspects of life she's witnessed.

Heck's poems speak of her personal testimony and her faith in God such as in "MY FIGHT", But I know there's a God/Up above you see/I know in His time/He alone shall set me free/One way or the other/This plight shall end/I'm fighting for my life/The Lord will help me win/'AND HE DID'.

Though people weather different storms, Changes of the Mind illustrates that every simple thought can and will bring changes of the mind.

Changes of the Mind - Roberta Heck

    CHANGES OF THE MIND

The world as it is today

    Can be very unkind

People with different beliefs and traits

Can bring changes of the mind

Planting that seed in your thoughts

As well as your point of views

Some of these ideas can poison

    Prove to be unhealthy too

    Everyone has customs

Beliefs and traits of all kinds

    Those that are ungodly

Can and will bring changes of the mind

    Sowing seeds in your thought

    Through verses—lyrics—reading—rapping lines

Every smile is not a friend

All gentle hands are not kind

For so long I’ve walked that old crooked road

Now it’s time to draw the line

It’s past the time for me

To have a change of the mind

    I’m getting older now

My mind broadens as it climbs

Every simple thought can and will

    Bring changes of the mind

    STRIFE

My child I love with all my heart

The pain I’ve caused you by keeping us apart

You deserved much more than I gave you then

    You needed a Mother—you needed a Friend

I was a pitiful sight when you needed me most

My life was off track—I was a Living Ghost

If I can pull myself out of this dilemma I put myself in

I promise to never hurt you or desert you again

But to be the Mother you deserve me to be

Not that half-track nitwit that people want to see

This I promise my son—This you can bet

When the Lord is through with me—There will be no regrets

Please forgive me my son—Please stay strong

I put myself on this road—I know it was wrong

Have patience my son—Through these trials I must go through

Stay strong for me—Keep the faith till your Mother returns to you

There’s a God up above and he has plans for us you see

He’s making my road harder—So I can be better for you and me

God I know you’re near me—You hear me when I pray

I put my all in your hands—that is where it all shall stay

    MY LOST AT MY COST

    What is a Mother’s love

    Something special and rare

    How could it be love

When your heart rips and tears

    Torn from the bond

    That we should behold

    Only heartbreak and tears

    Can only be foretold

    I know I hurt you

    The things that I do

    Didn’t even realize …

That I was hurting myself too

    Forgive me please

    Is what I say

I try to regain your love

But you only push me away

    The path I took

    Has turned you cold

    I broke your heart

    With the choices I chose

    Your love …

    I fear that I’ve lost

    This I must regain .

    Regardless of the cost

I try so hard to earn it

    That thing called love

    It should be given freely

Embracing as tight as a glove

    To be shunned and spurned

    Over and over again

    I hunger for your touch

    Forgive me my sins

    It is important to me

    Along with your prayers

    I know you love me

    I know your care

    I hurt you Mom

    God will bring me through

    I love you Mom

    I’m sorry I hurt you

    I Love You Mother

    SALUTATIONS

    Salutations my Love

    Adieu’ my Amour

    Are you my Soul Mate

    I’ve been searching for

    Shunning myself from the living

Life as a Hermit—You may say

For many years—No love I felt

For those who came my way

    Destined—I felt as a loner

Venting the Life I lived—I felt bound

Then after so many years of denial

It was you that I found

You had the key to my heart

    You tore the walls down

The Life that I lived—Wasn’t really Living

The right Love could not be found

No one had the right answers

    No manliness did they display

No one to match my wits

I had to send them on their way

    Weak in their discretions

I wore the pants and the britches too

The choices I made wasn’t great

I just always seem to make do

    I needed someone with substance

    And a back bone too

To lead me—you must be strong

If you expect me to listen to you

    You came into my life

What a brave knight you displayed

You played your role so well

Until in your arms I laid

You whisked me away into a new life

    A much quieter domain

My energy boils and comes to its peak

    But—I quietly restrain

Restrain myself as best I can

To stay steadfast on this course

Don’t want to do anything that I would regret

    Or have to show remorse

    I’VE BEEN THERE (MYBROTHER)

    Your life started out

    All troublesome free

    Just another young lad

    Looking for venture—I see

    Then with youth

    Comes the growing pain

    You met a Young Lady

    Carelessly—you invent Mr. Insane

    Mr. Insane

    Comes in many disguises

    As Demons of Lust

    Full of many surprises

    Some catch Him soon

    Right at life’s start

    Then others notice him

After their Life’s a wreck and torn apart

    He’s a shifty one

    Sneaky and sly

    Overpowering you more and more

    As time passes by

    He’ll devastate your life

Make you feel it’s a useless waste

    He’s a bitter Viper

Sour and nasty to the taste

He can be a powerful ‘Vixen’

But he also can be tamed

You can rid yourself of him

    Return to reality—mentally Sane

    When I say Mr. Insane

    I use the word literally

    His victim’s loses compassion

The things they do—is done so bitterly

    It makes you seem insane

    The things that you do

    His Victims are MANY

He once had me—what about you

    You can shake this ‘Demon’

    But everything has a cost

    There is someone stronger

It’s time to call on The Real Boss

You now find that you can’t defeat him alone

It’s time to call on the Lord

Repent your sins—It’s time to atone

    Atone for your sins

    Make right—your wrong

    Do this in Jesus name

All the wrong that was done

But you must have strong faith

When you call to Him—Do you hear

    He’ll turn your Life around

    Make your troubles disappear

    Try this I beg you

If you feel that this is you

    What He’s done for others

    He’s done for me too

    God loves us all

    This you can bet

If you just try Him once

    You’ll have no regrets

You’ll have a new lease on life

    A reason to live …

    Sharing your testimony with other’s

Of the goodness that God can give

    So when you are ready

    Keep this in mind

    He’s an on time God

You’ll find He’s right on time

    He’s There For You …

    NOW I UNDERSTAND

    No longer do I wonder

    No longer confused in any
