    The Early Years

    Introduction

My mind drifts back to the 1960’s. This cough was not going away, a very different kind of cough. I would sleep a lot; in fact, I would go pick up the boys from school and fall fast asleep in the car. But worst of all I had an itch all over my entire body night and day that was driving me crazy. Imagine hundreds of mosquito bites all over your body, head, legs, and arms, all over. I was going out of my mind wondering what was wrong with me. What illness do I have?

The constant itching night and day went on for three months. I was getting very little sleep and this was playing on my nerves. Then a large lump appeared on my shoulder and neck area. Now I knew something serious was happening.

No work, no school, and no movement. I am now seventy years old and I have been blessed to reach this age, since not many people have walked the path I have, and are still living. I have three wonderful sons; Richard, Kevin, and Mark, and a wonderful husband, Jack. As you walk in my shoes you will climb mountains and go into valleys, but always think positive because that is how I reached the age of seventy.

I will begin and tell you a little about my life growing up as a little girl in New Jersey. I came from a very loving family. I have two other sisters-Donna and Frances. I was the oldest. My Mom and Dad were very loving people and always played a big part in our lives.

When I was born my Mom said my head was shaped like a hot dog roll! Back then forceps were used in deliveries. My Mom cried when she saw my head, but the doctor said it would go back into shape in a few days, thank God it did! I had the roundest, chubbiest face. When we
