In Search of the Lost Sea - A.P. Hernández
CHAPTER 1
Sea turtles are incredible animals.
They can live up to fifty years and are the best travelers in the world. A sea turtle can cross the entire Pacific Ocean on its own and swims thousands and thousands of kilometers throughout its life.
But the best things about sea turtles are their eggs. Oh yeah! They are beautiful eggs. And don’t think that a turtle lays just one egg or two. Nothing like that! They can lay up to 180 eggs at one time. One hundred and eighty eggs with baby turtles inside. One hundred and eighty little turtles which, once they mature and are ready, will break open their shells and peer out at the world with curious eyes.
Martina knows all this because she’s a sea turtle.
Martina’s going to be a mother very soon. That’s why she has traveled such a long way. It takes days and days of swimming to reach the beach.
CHAPTER 2
Martina has finally arrived.
She’s very tired from so much swimming and she’s hungry too but that’s not important because her babies come first.
Although no one has ever taught her, Martina knows exactly what to do.
As soon as she reaches the beach, Martina pulls her large, heavy body out of the water. That’s when she realizes how clumsy she is. Although she can move quickly and smoothly
