About this ebook
Crack, crack...animal babies are hatched all over the place. Can you figure out who's who?
Watercolor and collage illustrations depict close-up scenes of an egg or eggs about to hatch. The text hints at what the eggs contain: "Hidden in a rock cave/ Deep beneath the ocean waves/ Their mother wraps her long arms around/ To keep these eggs safe and sound." The observant young nature lover will find a visual clue of what animal the mother might be. The next spread provides the answer-in this case, it's an octopus. The second spread also provides fascinating facts about the species.
The book features a number of species ranging from spiders to penguins to octopuses, and the back matter provides more information about the actual size of various eggs and how they develop.

- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5If you want to have kids interact, I would read this book! It allows kids to guess what type of animal is in the eggs. When the animal in the egg is revealed, there is a short summary about the animal. Great book to use when learning about different kinds of animals.
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5Kids will enjoy reading, or hearing, this book. It's about baby animals and the eggs they are hatched from. Students will have fun guessing what animal comes out of each egg, and then when the page is turned, a brief description of the animal is given.
- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5This is a charming and informative book for children. Of course, who doesn't like baby animals?! But it is an informative book, and I could see myself reading and showing this book to my former first and second graders. My favorite in this book was the octopus!
- Rating: 3 out of 5 stars3/5Summary:This is a story for younger children that explains different animals that hatch from different eggs. My Reaction:This is a very fun book that allows the students to interact by guessing which animal is coming next.Classroom extensions:1. I think this would be a fun way to include science into any Easter theme.2. I think this is a good book to read while hatching your own classroom eggs.
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5This was a wonderful book. I enjoyed the verse clues that invited the reader to guess which animal was inside of the egg. Kindergarten students to 3rd grade students will enjoy trying to solve these "riddles." The interactive aspect of the book was one of its most appealing aspects. The author includes some common information and some interesting obscure facts about the animals, making it a fun read. Children will relate to the baby animals. The illustrations were very appealing. They were cut-out collage with water color accents. Additionally, the author included a section that compared the actual size of the eggs mentioned in the book giving students a great visual for comparison. Finally, she included a two page spread of the inside of a duck egg allowing the viewer to experience the changes that a duck goes through as it matures and prepares to hatch. I would use this in a science lesson on animals.and their habitats.
- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5This book takes different types of animals and explains their hatching process and what happens after the babies are born. It is a cute book that little kids and bigger kids will learn from.
- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5Posada gives readers a very interesting take on the life cycle book. It starts off with rhyming guessing games for different eggs and animals. At the end there are diagrams of how big the eggs actually are and details about the animals' early life cycles.
- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5The book, "Guess What is Growing Inside This Egg" is a very good science information book. The book has different animals that hatch from an egg. This would be a good resource to use in a science lesson on animals that hatch from eggs. Overall I would suggest this book to any teacher to put in their library.
