Robert Wellington

Robert H Wellington has spent many years pursuing spirit, finding it in many unexpected places. In fact, it is in and of all things, created and unseen, manifest and un-manifest. This is the secret which inspires his writings and poetry. This is the song of life which calls to us all, reassuring us of its presence and inseparable connectedness. The author loves to escape in nature. As he puts it, Here one can most easily interact with and touch the threads of reality. Here we can see God's loom, endlessly weaving together the dynamics of creation with the peace of infinite potential. Robert H. Wellington is a father, grandfather, husband exceeding 40 years, brother and friend. He sees his writings as a journey and hopes they resonate with those who might find them. He invites you to join him on this journey, but also asks that you allow him to walk a while with you; to share a brief but lasting fellowship. Soon a new adventure will present itself, a separate yet related path, ultimately joining all the infinite paths to the Creator. Like the Prodigal Son, we are all on the journey home. The author loves to escape in nature. As he puts it, Here one can most easily interact with and touch the threads of reality. Here we can see God's loom, endlessly weaving together the dynamics of creation and the peace of infinite potential.

    A Gift of Love

    by

    Robert H. Wellington

    Foreword

I write for the children and we are all children

hoping that these words will have meaning for them

I write for the family and we are all one family

hoping that these thoughts may help our love flourish

I write for my brothers and sisters and we are all brothers and sisters

hoping these phrases will help us on our journey home

    Prologue

These simple thoughts, poems and essays are presented with the hope that they stir something deep inside, helping each of us to reconnect with our inner voice or guide, a guide who waits silently and patiently to be recognized. A guide who waits in plain view if our eyes are clear, but is often hidden by the noise of the world. A guide, who in reality is our true self.

The truth is, illumination has already occurred. It does not reside in time and thus the world, which exists in time, cannot see it. Your Soul, however, is timeless. In deep silence our higher mind touches the Soul and in that instant all is revealed. That is why we all need to retire from the world from time to time and in quiet contemplation replenish ourselves. Nothing more needs to be done, for in putting Love first all else is taken care of. Kindness is the key. It is the energy of a harmonious life and there is no substitute for it. But just as electricity can be turned off by pulling a light switch, so this energy can be shut off by an unkind action, word, or thought. Without it our lives experience the traumas of the world. With it we experience harmony.

Always, however, we will be challenged. This is the Soul’s way of hastening our journey home, as well as the journey of those traveling with us. Our responsibilities do not revolve around us alone but extend to all we come in contact with.

Many have often used these simple rules to meet the challenges confronting them. Some have seemed exhilarating. Some have seemed painful. But looking back all have accelerated their pace towards fuller understanding. Without periodic quiet moments to reflect on truth’s meaning, life would be difficult indeed. With the light of quiet contemplation replenishing us, life is wonderful.

The journey when understood is a great joy. It seems long but it is not a journey of distance. It is a journey of mental adjustment. It is a journey of realization. Whether we know it or not, we are all taking this journey together. Some have gone before and have left clues to help us on our way. Some are traveling next to us and are there to help or be helped when we encounter difficult stretches of road. Others follow us and depend on the footprints that we leave to continue their progress. It is an endless procession, yet in very real terms we have already completed the journey, we have just failed (for now) to realize it.

We all have many gifts. The highest use we can put these gifts toward is to help others. The moment we share we receive. Giving hastens the journey and with each giving act a joyous cry is heard in heaven. Have you ever felt shivers after experiencing (giving or receiving) a kindness, or a breakthrough thought? I often think of these as cheers from heaven. With each breakthrough, the world becomes a little brighter and you and all those who shared the experience with you are a little closer to realizing that which your Soul already knows.
