    Prologue

Once there was a farmer (the farmer stands for God), and He sowed the seed (which stands for truth and spiritual understanding). Some of the seed fell and was immediately eaten by birds (which stands for rejection of the message). Some of the seeds fell on rocky ground with only a light covering of soil (which stands for not developing the message which was initially accepted . . . . through laziness or whatever) and therefore did not develop. Some of the seed fell on ground with thorns (which stands for those things in the world which divert and inhibit our efforts at development including material possessions and unenlightened associates) and therefore also stopped developing. The final seed fell on good soil (without any of the aforementioned problems) and in due course produced a fine crop (which stands for success which is accompanied by true happiness).

This spiritual truth is just as valid today as it was 2000 years ago when first presented. The reason I share with you this parable is to illustrate how in a spiritual world (which seems illusionary since it can’t be seen, touched, or heard), with enough understanding, we come to find out what the truth really is. Often it is just the opposite of what we had originally thought.

For a number of years my search for understanding of the truth was in the wrong direction.

The thorns began to grow. My associates cut off my ability to pursue the truth because it was to their advantage to use up the energy and by-products of the developing seed so that they could continue their shadows.

The developing seed could not grow past the thorns which were choking the seed out.

However the farmer came back and saw the situation and set to correct it since it was His plan that the seed fully develop. He lifted the seed with its fragile roots out of the thorns and carried it some distance away putting it in fertile good soil.

At first the seed was distressed to be removed from its environment, but as the roots developed and it began to grow taller and taller, it finally understood that this was the best for it and without this loving gesture by the farmer it would have finally died. Now of course, there is the hope for crop after crop and harvest after harvest.

That is my story. This is my prayer.

Allow each person who reads this book to understand the material presented in a way that will be of greatest benefit to her or him. Fill each line with clarity and truth. Let the readers take away information that will enhance their journey in life.

Most importantly, let the reader come to realize his or her own value as a child of God, and know as such that they have a special contribution to make in life.

When the reader finishes this book let him or her know that they are not alone in this life.

Everyone searches to find answers. It is only in searching that one learns to recognize and appreciate the important things in life.

Bless each reader with his or her own personal understanding of the ways to make their lives more joyful. Protect them on their journey and fill their lives with love.

This book is dedicated to all those souls that are searching for happiness and peace of mind. Their journey will take them in many directions just as my own personal journey did.

The parable of the farmer and the seed portrays the journey as traumatic to the traveler. This is sometimes the case because some people will never slow down to smell the roses on their own. When God sees that you are off track and cannot find your way, He uses life circumstances to put you back on the path, but He never abandons you no matter how bad it gets. He’s always there to guide you when you are ready to acknowledge that you are making a mess of your life. When you start a heartfelt conversation with God, He will enlighten you with some valuable truths that will change your life forever. He will let you know that you are His child and that He loves you so much and wants you to have a good life.

If you remain still, He will speak to you in words that are as audible to you as the spoken word is to the ear, but you have to be willing to open your heart and mind to receive this awesome gift.

This book was written to help those who are struggling with life and do not seem to have a clue that there is a different and much better way to live.

We have always had the ability and the tools at our disposal to change our lives, but the
